Enough that you notice, but not so much that you'll think you have a different engine in the bike. The exhaust is by far the most effectual. The intake is more trouble than it is worth, get a K&N drop in instead. And the cams will make very little difference unless you go to a high compression piston and do some head work. If you're going to spend that kind of money, buy a different bike. Get the exhaust, put some lower bars on it, and see how you like it. If it isn't enough for you, start thinking about trading to a different bike. Unless you really, really like your Blast, and feel like dumping another $2,000 into it that you'll never see again is worth it. I just have an exhaust at this point, and I'm happy. The cams are worth it for bottom end - cleans up that bit of lag nicely and you need no other modifications to go with it - definately worth it. The rest I concur. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

If you do decide to upgrade your Blast however, we'll be %100 supportive in your efforts. Try the changing the exhaust first and see how you like it. If your not impressed, its unlikely that any further mods will impress either. |

I like the k&n but am going to go with the pro series so I can open up the back 1/4 of the motor to get more airflow for cooling and reduce weight I am also looking real hard at the ulysses for next bike but will keep my Blast for the wife til she gets more miles under her and for a tinker toy |

what about the "High Performance Oil Pump Drive Gear" that Buell is now selling...anyone tried it...other than increased oil flow what does it do? |

From talking to the guys at the races last weekend the stock drive gear wears out at high rpms (constant Sporty problem). This gear has been available for the other models for sometime now. (Jprovo was there with me and can verify, add to or correct what I've written!) |

ahh so it's a fix for a known existing problem sold as an upgrade...this smells a bit fishy to me...I don't have my books on me (in storage awaiting my return to the USA from Japan) how difficult is this to change...I remember that the cams were not complicated a change |

I dont know which gear is being replaced, the drive gear or the driven gear. The cams you already know are fairly easy to remove. The oil pump is much easier. So its one of the 2! I dont know that its fishy, I just think unless you're racing, you probably wont need it. I only heard it was a problem the race bikes were experiencing. |

Tony, I don't think it's fishy. There ahve very few (if any) failures reported for this gear on the XB's or the Blasts, however, it was a known wear item on the Tubers and Sportsters, especially for high RPM application. I wouldn't worry about replacing this gear while running the stock rev limit, but would for high rev bikes. James |

it's not so much that I'm back on badweb (I've be reading) I've just been at sea for most the last 8 months (no bandwidth)...I am however leaving Japan in 2-3 months and will have my blast back to play with...Cams and maybe (if I can convince the boss/wife) a 515 bigbore are on tap for this winter's work |

SQUID...not JARHEAD...convincing the wife has more to do with the quality of the snowboard season and when/if we find a house to buy...than anything else...winter fun money come directly from motorcycle upgrade money and I must slide more this year than last years cruise abreviated season
