Here is the deal I love.my current blast have bigger bikes etc... however a week ago I managed to pick up a blast 2001 for $100 couldn't turn it down.all I was told is that it didn't run bug tags title and all was legit. This being my second blast as a spare I began my assembly of miscellaneous parts here and there got power to starter and no start shot fuel out the Carb too much fuel to be a simple jet so I tool off timing cover and noticed. Ams had been installed wrong so I reset timing and checked compression 181psi consistantly now were it gets a little differant than most as I have read many many forums and well this is were I am at it idles amazing for however I want it to and starts like my other by practically looking at it but once it is given throttle it starts to lean out and I know what everyone is thinking but no list of things Ive done are below will someone please tell me what I am missing. Buell throttle problem: Bike 2001 buell blast 492cc air cooled bone stock (minus charcoal can) (not done by me) Things done (By me) Re-set timing (perfect) Clean Carb (4 times) New coil New ICM New boot (das boot) New spark plug New plug wire New BAS New Carb diaphragm New battery New fuel line Fresh 91 octain Clean petcock Clean tank Any ideas of were to go.now and the bike starts and idles like a dream every time. |

If it starts and idles fine, but dies as the throttle is opened, you have a blockage in the main jet circuit. Try starting the bike w/the carb mouth open, and cover it w/your hand (kind of a manual choke, if you will) as you open the throttle and see if the RPM's will rise. Should confirm lack of fuel as the slide rises. |

I have tried the manual choke method and it floods immediately the only way that worked is if I kinda smacked the palm of my hand back and forth over thecarb while hiving it throttle. All jets in Carb a new as I had rebuilt it origionally the first time and completely torn down and cleaned each time after that just incase. I've been rebuilding carbs for cars race carbs quadrajets etc... so I know its as good as factory new now. I was thinking tps but I'm thinking like a car ill still get throttle just a crappy idle. I've checked for flow issues ad well by using my other Buells tank petcocl fuel line as well. But it does get more fuel the manual.choke way that's what's got me stumped new jets and all. |

Tps is a thought, but I would suspect that would affect all RPM's. Plus the hand choke method gives an RPM increase. Still, might not hurt to check. Since hand choke does help, back to fuel issues. Is the needle circlip in place? If the needle is not raising w/the slide .... While the main jet is OK, is the main jet holder and emulsion tube clean and not blocked? You have checked the petcock and fuel line; is the fuel getting to the float bowl freely? Have you tried swapping out the carb w/your other bike? Could help pinpoint the issue. Dave |

Now that I think about it, the Blast DOES have a TPS. That would be the biomechanical Version 1.0, with over a century of real world testing and refinement. Operator twists throttle, and continually monitors the result. Actually, when I read about TPS, I thought ignition, and replied TPS, while still thinking about ignition. My bad .... Now, about the carb swap ...... |

Did you disable the safeties, and check the fuel tank vent line, and vent? EZ |
