So it's time for a new bike (probably keeping the Uly). I love the Uly, mine is more streeted out, no windscreen, Jardine Exhaust, Pirelli Diablo's, etc. Its a quick bike, but not fast, and I honestly ride with guys on litre bikes, a couple Yamaha R1's, a BMW S1KRR, GSK-R 1K, CBR 1K, Ducati 1098S, etc. I can't keep up with them in the straights by a long shot. The curves I can pass basically any of them (purely due to bigger balls)... I just got a new better paying job, and I'm really wanting something newer, faster, definitely not more unique, but a little more exclusive. The Diavel with its 162HP should humble most of those sport bikes in a straight line, and everything I've read says it should keep up decently in the twisties (opposite of the Buell?!?). So does anyone here have any experience with them, know someone who has one, etc? I'm really not ready to buy one right this moment (unless the local dealer gives me a sweet deal), so I'm thinking I ride the Uly a while longer, and wait for the new EBR bikes to debut., Only problem is nobody knows when that is going to happen, and who knows, they may not be what I'm looking for. If the RX is similar to the RS without all the race parts on it I'll buy it in a heartbeat, so long as its got that wicked 1190 motor in it. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges, but that Diavel looks mean, in a totally different way than the 1190RS, but I like them both. The Diavel would surely be more comfortable than the 1190 as well. I have to admit thats one of the best things about the Uly. All my buddies get off their crotch rockets and are stiff and sore, I get off and I feel like a million bucks! |

I saw a Diavel in Montreal last summer. It had a crowd of about 20 people around it at an intermission during a concert. Lots of oohs and aahhs. That thing looked like it was going 120 just sitting there. People were begging the guy to fire it up. It had a Termi exhaust. Sweet ride for sure. Large price tag though. |

Ruckus? I'm not understanding the hurry, with the exception of more money meaning more options. If the Uly is holding it's own, (this is my thinking) look at other places it is weak. I am concentrating on the under 15 minute rides. Thus the Honda Ruckus at 100+ mpg. |

I test drove a Diavel. It's fast all right but after so many miles on the Uly, it just didn't scream "buy me". The price plus scheduled mx costs were too much. The Pannigalle (sp) would be another story. Ducati in San Diego will give you an hour test drive on the Diavel it even rent it by the day. |

Yeah definitely not the Ruckus... I'm looking for faster, not slower. haha. The Uly does and doesn't hold its own. I'm riding with sporty bikes, and the Uly is more of a Utility bike. Its practical, and its one of the reasons I love it... Unfortunately, practical doesn't really tickle my fancy, its not sexy, and its not thrilling until you really hammer on it. The Diavel (like the 1190RS) is sexy, thrilling, evocative, fast, and expensive... I'm hoping the new EBR Bikes are all but the last bit (expensive). Just wish I knew when they'd be releasing the new models. |

Thanks Danair, what didn't you like about it? And I'm in Buffalo, so a trip to SD would be tough! |

I'm waiting . . The last time I rode from Buffalo (the Dunlop factory) to San Diego was for the public unveiling of the S-1 Lighting in July 1996. Great trip but I took the long route . . . |

Yes, opposite the Buell. A dealer threw me the keys to a Diavel while getting a bike serviced. Really like the bike. But I live in the Rockies west of Denver. Twisties everywhere. The Diavel is not at home in them. Oh sure, it probably handles curves better than most long wheelbased, shortly suspended bikes, but if your riding friends have a hint of skill when there are bends in the road, watch them pull away after you try to hang with them in the straights... though you might like the challenge of trying to hustle the long, lower pegged, fat rear tire/wheel as fast as possible in the curves. If you don't mind this scenario, then give it a long look. Now the Multistrada 1200 would rock n roll in every scenario, and also go far with ease. |

I think I could spank a Diavel on my Uly going up and down Palomar mtn. Its definitely more on the cruiser side although they cringe at the word. Its a cool bike, just didn't trip my trigger. |

I won a thing with cycle world to ride around on a diavel with one of their editors last month. That bike is one insanely fast cruiser. Here's a link to my post about it on advrider. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=776054 |

I'm thinking about getting another bike... Probably will do it next season though. I really wanted the Motus MST, but being released with a $30k price tag turned me off. I now have it down to in first place with a test ride of the 2010 model, a Honda VFR 1200. It's 170hp (more than enough), with a V-4 who still has some soul left over from the first honda V-4's, and you can get a 2010 (no Traction Control) for around 10k brand new or 2012 (w/ or w/o TC) for 15k. The other consideration I have is a Yamaha FZ1. 11k brand new. You can hard bag up these rides and you have two great sport touring bikes that are rockets. I love my Uly but the appeal of a modern drivetrain is growing on me. |

The Motus MST-R is still my background on my desktop... just a huge tease at this point. |

Hey McCall, Would an 1125 fit the bill? I see those things all over for sale and they seem to get great reviews. Maybe not a fast as the GSXR1 & CBR-RR crowd, but should be more than capable of keeping up. All for a lot less, and you would retain the 'Buellness' we all crave. I see those around for $5-7k and you could use your remaining $$$ to really pump it up and trick it out. Just a thought. |

im with you on "love my XT" and understand the feeling of low HP. its kinda neat when the throttle kicks you in the but on a high HP bike. the buell is almost a truck. i sort of fell in love with an MV Agusta 1098 and love the way it gets out of the way. BUT, i dont like putting all that weight on my hands or crotch. its a totally different sitting position, one that isnt confy on long trips or even short rides for me. i figure if i had the MV it would probably end up on the coffee table. wifey would love that one. |

If you can afford two bikes go for it. I have owned a Uly since 2008. I recently bought a Suzuki B-King, which is a fantastic bike. But I still love the Uly and ride it as often as Big Suzi. I think it's good to have two very different bikes. |

Mhevezi, I've thought real hard about an 1125. But they are way down on power from the 1K crowd, and only slightly higher than the 600's. I'd honestly have to ride one more than I have to really have a feel for it. The great thing about test riding new bikes is you get to hammer on them like you would your own bike (not break them, but find its capabilities to an extent). Most used bike sellers don't even want to let you ride the thing until you plunk down the cash, and I am not blaming them, just stating facts. The Diavel is a slick bike, but the more I think about it the more I realize that if I go the cruiser route, I want a full on bagger, something I can tour with and take in the sights, not be rushing from A-B like on a more aggressive bike. The Mulitstrada would be an awesome bike, but I'm not crazy about the looks and all the reviews I've read on it question its reliability. I may have to take a test ride at the local dealer though. The Aprilia Touno is catching my eye as well... Or the RSV for that matter. The Honda VFR isn't for me. Either is the Yamaha FZ1 (which is an old platform, and its age shows). I'm not real keen on the Japanese bikes. I work with engineers from over there on a daily basis, my counterparts if you will, and honestly, I'm not impressed... My German and Italian (European as a whole for the most part) counterparts however have a style that is more of my own, almost as good as the EBR flair. I had a new EBR dealer tell me that he's expecting to see bikes in early 2013... Not sure if I believe that (not necessarily because of him, more because EBR is so small, though they are looking for a few engineers according to the website, makes me think for a minute...). If I could get confirmation of that, and perhaps see a new bike at a show or something, I'd wait for it if I liked it. Problem is I'm getting an itchy trigger finger, and might just buy something fast! |

Two months might not get you anywhere Mike... Just a feeling I have, nothing more. And Firstbuell, the Tuono looks awesome, but if I was going to get it I'd want the new one with the full 167hp. |

i got to do the same thing as dcc46, on some great twisty roads. that diavel is super quick, but painful to ride. also i am positive i could spank it on the uly in the corners. it does not handle poorly, but it is work to turn. whereas i just look where i want to go and the uly follows, the ducati took conscious effort to steer. if you like the long range comfort and cornering prowess of your uly, you will not be happy with the diavel. |

I've got a 1125CR and a XT . IMO the CR is just a comfortable , if not more, than the uly to ride all day . As far as being able to "keep up" with the 1k bikes .All my friends ride 1k bikes of various brands. The CR has no problem with anything under 140mph . (or so I've been told) It actually pulls much harder off the corners than the I4's but they can reel you in if they have room to spool up and put he HP to the ground but only IF .... |
