Oh man, this situation really blows. My heart goes out to you guys. Everyone's head has to be filled with questions right now. Was it the same valve that failed this time, or the other one? What work did EBR do for you Rob, when they had your bike? Were there any valvetrain upgrades to improve reliability? I think I remember hearing something a while back about EBR upgrading valves in the 1190RS engine, though I don't remember the specifics. It's really disappointing to see the factory bikes holding up better than the privateer bikes. Maybe this is an hours-in-use problem and their time is coming... Are there any valvetrain upgrades available? I'm thinking that after EBR had a chance to work on it, the Crotchrocket.tv bike would have to have any upgraded/stronger valvetrain parts that the factory guys might be running, so that reliability would be the same. Any ideas on why Rob's bike keeps failing and the others keep running? Could this problem coming along because Rob's bike has more hours on it? |

I'm afraid that any questions re the 1190RS motor will have to be directed to EBR. I can only say that we were unable to get into the race. |

Rob, I understand that you can't speak on behalf of EBR about design specifications. But can you tell us the facts of what happened to your bike in the last race, what got fixed, and what happened to your bike in this race? I'm sure that the grass roots sponsors, and everyone else interested in the 1190RS would like to know. IMO the totally closed lipped approach only fuels the fires of speculation and doubt, and that's never a good thing... it might hurt more than it helps. Just a thought. |

Perhaps the ECM tuning is your own business? If I was going to change something in the ECM it would be a lower redline? |

EBR has lowered the rev-limiter from it's original race setting. There are however, conditions which cause the engine to over-rev despite this. We believe that we did not over-rev the motor, but that is being looked at. |

Over-revving? As in blown shifts? Is someone trying to place the blame it on pilot error?!??! Does the 1190RS already have on-board data recording? If not, then then I'd put a recording device on the CAN-bus. That would give you a clear cut answer, and put an end to any finger pointing/blame shifting. |
