Welcome Hauntingurcoma! Your mileage is normal. If your ride is all highway and you keep off the gas, it will get better. Your weight (and height probably) is also above what they use for mileage testing, so that will cost you mpg too (no offense). PS all caps online is yelling.FYI |

I'm 6'2, 235lbs, and that's about what I get on mine. A couple times of conservative riding yielded 115 miles before reserve. But the average is more like 95-100 miles. |

Welcome to the Thumper Forum Hauntingurcoma! What you are experiencing is normal. I usually ride 70-80 miles before a refill just to be on the safeside, I don't like pushing. Just a question...... Has anybody really ever gotten 70 mpg with their Blast? (Message edited by swampy on December 04, 2008) |

I used to go 125 miles before I hit reserve. Then I discovered aftermarket products. |

I'm 6'1" and 200 lbs--I consistently hit reserve with my '09 Blast at 120 miles. I was thinking that my mileage wasn't as good as advertised, but it sounds like I am doing okay. |

Yeah, I did. Before all the two up riding I do to take my son to school, I was getting 70 to 72 mpg all the time. Highest I ever got was 77 but I think that was a math error. Only mod on the Blast is a Vance & Hines exhaust and re-jetting. Most of my miles are for commuting and I drive pretty gently. Now that I have 6 miles of 2 up riding in my 24 mile commute, I'm still getting 64 - 66 mpg. I have about 10 miles of 35/45 mph driving and the rest is a steady 65 mph. |

Could someone please explain what happens to the front end when braking hard from upper highway speeds that causes the wobble? |
Gearheaderiko

Wobble could be caused by the worn (or weak) front forks, loose neck bearings, underinflated or badly worn front tire, 'loose' engine mounts, warped rotor, cracked frame. Many things can cause it, but first: Do you still have a Dunlop front and how many miles on it? |

So, you're saying my Blast could be wearing out? After less than 8 years and only 36,000 miles? Hmmm... Yeah, I had the same problem. New Pirelli, inflated properly, and everything feels tight. Looks like it's a good time to get that space heater for the garage and see just how many parts make up a Blast, huh? |

Still figuring out these forums not sure on rules about starting a new thread. So Ill just put it here. Today on my way home from work (a 10 mile ride) once I got into city stop and go my Blast backfired 3 times before I got home. Not loud gunshots, just like a maybe a muffled balloon pop sound. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? |

Intake Boot probably! Might be cracked or loose. Das Boot! Also check the exhaust header for cracks or exhaust flange tightness. |

Bhawk, The belt and rear pulley is recommended for replacement at 15,000 miles. I think most belts squeek, so don't sweat it unless the belt is due for replacemnt. Ready Set SNAP! |

Mine stopped making that noise when I changed out the whole rear wheel. I used the same pulley cover. |

Hi guys, While riding, the bike started cutting out followed immediately by a backfire. The bike has been progressively getting worse over the span of the last 3 days. Sometimes, it cuts out, and seems to have a very weak/ low/ no backfire whatsoever. It is a 2001, WB exhaust (24 discs) the PO informed me that the carb was rejetted, but did not tell me to what degree. What could be the problems or most probable cause/FIX? Thanks in advance, R |

OK - so you checked the kick stand switch, and disabled it? After that I would suspect the ignition. EZ |
