I have a 2001 blast that will start right up when cold and will idle but once I ride it for a couple minutes it stalls and will not start until it cools down, after 10-15 minutes. This is my first bike and I am not sure what this could be. |

Have you seen our Thumper page? Your choke issue is the subject of numerous threads there. There is a new-to-Blast-ownership page, too. Somehow, your carburetor is not releasing the cold-start device. There is a nice illustrated step-by-step of how to clean it in the Blast area. |

Hello, I have changed the manifold coupler or "Das Boot" and I still have the problem. I read that there should be a light on the Ignition Module that should blink on and off while trying to start the bike but I can not find the light. They said that it was on the right side but I can not find it. Would a leak in the exhaust where it connects to the engine cause this. |

Dish69, the ignition module is inside the right side case just forward of the brake pedal. It sits behind the plastic circle that you can take off with a knife. If the led is faint when you start or run, it is shot. I have a 2001 and replaced mine the day I bought it. They run from $170-195, depending on where you get it from. Your symptoms are classic for a failing module. |

Sounds like you're running out of fuel and the cool down replenishes your bowl in the carb. Check the petcock for debris. |

Looked at the ignition mod today, it did flash red lightly while trying to start it. I have changed the fuel filter and flushed the tank out about a month ago and then refilled and put seafoam in. It did run today for about 20 min then shut down again and would not start. I have checked carb and looks clean. Thanks for any help. |

Did the led ever come on bright? If not, they will start up fine with a faint light in em and than after you "warm" it up it shits the bed. Mine would let me get about exactly 5 miles, depending on how fast I was going, and then die. The bike would turn over, just wouldn't start. So, basically, I think it's your module, which is a classic problem with the stock 2001 module. They have changed vendors since and the modules are good to go now. |

Where is the best place to get a ignition module for my 2001 Blast? |

The HD dealer should be able to get one for you. It will run you close to $200 though. |
