The pic of the tank bag on the Buell site looks as if the front mounts to the air box cover with 'J' hooks that fit under it. Is this correct? And has anyone had problems with it sliding around? I was thinking of using a similar method to mount my Eclipse bag as there seems to be limited methods. If anyone has a Buell bag can you post some pics of the front hooks, mounted or not? | ||

The Buell bag uses the screws that hold the front airbox to attach nylon web with the quick release fastners. It holds it very well I have used it for 3 seasons now( got my XB in May 02) | ||

I noticed the tankbag will slide around after a rain, even with the web straps as tight as they will go. Wipe the bottom of the bag because it will keep sliding until it dries out. Overall the bag works well, but I lost the map pocket - it blew off in a rainstorm. | ||

If you cut the loop that holds the rear of the bag down, Blue, you can thread it through the clip again and voila, you have a tightening strap. | ||

The Buell tank bag attaches to the 4 airbox cover bolts via the nylon straps. 2 straps come out the front and one out the rear of the bag. The rear one goes down the cover into the recess (under the lip of the seat) and is attached to a perpendicular strap that then attaches to the airbox bolts. --- Hopefully this will help if you don't get a picture. | ||

Check out "From Cruiser to Sport Bike - An XB9S Rider's Log by Keith Thrash..." in the Tale Section. The holes in the Nylon straps that tie the tank bag to the bike had seriously elongated allowing the bag to become quite loose. It seems two corrections are needed.  Hope this helps. | ||

Guitar strap - drill a 1/4" hole through the ends (typically leather) and cut the strap so that you have a loop at each end. Mount the ends through the front two airbox cover bolts, using large washers. |
