Finally after fours years of being with this department, the idea of comfort has set in. For those of you who don't know me I am a local cop in a fairly large town. We have four HD bikes we ride for traffic. Yesterday we got rid of two of them and got brand new BMW Boxster 1150s. I took one ride on it and was in love. I know understand why you see guys riding BMW's all year round. They got sent off today to get the decals put on them and when they get back I will post pics. In talking with the Sgt. who ordered them, he informed me about six yeas ago they got to try Buell's out as police bikes. Everyone loved them but the department would not let them keep them past a year. He wanted to get back to a Buell, but thought the XB9S did not look like a good police bike. He then ordered the BMW's all I can say is its like driving a cadi. He told me he has some pics of the Buell's I am going to get them from him and post those too. Kinda interested in what a Buell police bike looks like. | ||

Sardawg. The CHiPpies I talk to [and I talk to them alot...my license is in danger (sigh)  ] love the beemers. And yes, beemers are year round bikes. I just passed through 42K on my eighteen month old K-Tank. The busa is in danger of being sold, I'm only putting 8K a year on it. | ||

I am not surprised you love the BMW. I have a used 1995 BMW R1100RA and never plan on selling it. I want to get a R1150RT-P turn in (they typically "retire" them at 60,000 miles and refurbish them, take the light & siren off and sell them through dealers) and put it to rally and business promotional use with German Police "POLIZEI" markings. I am current federal LE and have a retirement business planned, a company called POLIZEI associates. I think the BMW is "the" police bike... others are only modified for police service!
