Just spent the weekend at Capitol Reef – Escalante, UT and no doubt we’ll be back again to see more. Although the Park isn’t as well-known as other national parks, there is no shortage of eye candy. The lack of popularity is probably due to its remote location. Plenty of dirt around for riding and hiking, with an amazing view around every corner.

Hell’s Backbone is a little bridge in the middle of nowhere, yet it’s a spectacular nowhere with huge drop-offs on both sides. It takes about 20 miles of dirt to get to it from either side.

Escalante!

We found a little gem of a campground, Sunglow, right next to Bicknell, a little town about 10 miles from the park. It was tucked in a small red rock canyon with great views, running water, and flush toilets. Only about 13 sites and we only had a few neighbors each night.

Definitely Bear country!

That looks like a great destination. We should get a group to go out there.
When did your Uly get all that orange on it?

Great pictures. I was through there on a cross-country trip in 2004; didn't have much time to ride the park, but at least saw it when passing though. It's on my short list of places to return to...

thanks for sharing!

Brian, The extra orange was a winter project. It's all done with rattle cans, which will leave some on Badweb shaking their heads, but it was cheap, easy to redo, and the color matched perfect! If we do a ride down their, it's got to be early or late in the summer or your tires will melt right off the rims!
