Recently bought my xb12. since the last owner said it has been sitting for over a year i drained the gas and changed the plugs. initially it ran great but after my first 50-60 miles it began to cut out, stutter, almost die, the yellow engine warning light came on, then it would level out and run good for a while then do it again. some days it runs just fine then others this happens multiple times. the bike has 5000 miles and the rest seems sound. any ideas? |

Probably a good idea to check for "error codes".
Maybe a bad ground wire or bad battery. My CEL came on when the engine was very hot due to summer heat and hard riding. |

I realize that a number of problems could cause this issue, but I had the same symptom with my Uly last summer. I found my crankshaft position sensor (I think it's the CPS) harness had come loose on the left side of the bike and was chaffing on the front jug causing a short to ground that killed the engine intermittently. |
