I want to carry 30 lbs Friday in my 2007 stock side bag. I know it is over the sticker limit but wondering what you have carried with no issue. I've carried a case of beer and that is probably the most I've carried. Thanks |

I suggest putting heavy things on the passenger seat. |

Yeah that's what I've been thinking about and maybe do it with a backpack or strap it down to the seat in some manner. I'm trying to transport my crankshaft from my latest project, a Yamaha XS650 Cafe project that I've just started. |

The weight limit is lawyerspeak. Just ride reasonably and you'll be fine. If you are concerned about the extra weight damaging the bags strap the bag handle to the passenger grab bar. The extra weight will change the CG of the bike so I wouldn't recommend any peg dragging....unless you want to! Personally the last place I'd want a high mass metal object is strapped to my back or on the seat behind me. (Message edited by rwven on March 22, 2012) |

The wife and I have done several two up over night stays. We run all three bags and a tank bag. One side is hers, one mine, and the top is for the bike. I know we have done a 900 mile, three day trip at well over 30 pounds in each bag, probably closer to 40. |

I regularly overload my bags and have had no problem, but I don't think I'd want to carry a crank in them. It would really suck to hear a crack and see your bag with the crank in it bouncing down the pavement in the rear view mirror. I'd flip the beaver tail forward onto the back of the seat, and bungee the crank to it. |

Put crank in a box and strap securely to your seat. Passengers weigh many times what that crank weighs. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on March 22, 2012) |

Thanks All! I took the car today since I made the trip in the foggy dark and it rained like Hell coming back so glad I did. but in a week or two I'll be putting in the pillion position strapped down to the beaver tail. |
