Ok, so I'm getting back into riding after a 12 year hiatus and I've always loved Buell motorcycles. This one is in my area. He said it's a 2007 XB12SS Lightning with 6,500 miles. It has been laid down, looks like at least twice. Dent in header and some minor damage, like a ripped of rear view mirror. New tires and it's said to run very well. He's asking $3,600 but I can probably talk him down to $3k. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I would look elsewhere, it looks terrible for 6500 miles, it was not taken care of at all.

Yeah it looks dirty, says it's been garage kept until as of late. At his sister's house or something.I have yet to look at it, just figured it was a good deal at $2k under nada.

If the bike was $2k I could look past the frame damage, but I wouldn't spend a dime over that. $3500-4000 will get you a fantastic bike that hasn't hit the pavement multiple times.

yeah, you could claim that the bike is nearly totaled with that kind of frame damage. Talk to him a few months down the road after everyone else has turned it down due to the nasty rash. He might have to come off of it for way less, then cover that scar with a frame puck. A few low speed tip overs probably wont affect rideability/reliability.

Buells do crash well, frame pucks will cover most of the frame marks. Talk him down(over time) and go for it.
Then consider taking a MSF course since it's been awhile.
