Hey Guys. I m looking for a top bag mount for my Uly. I already have the side journey bags and mounts, but would like a rear rack for a sissy bar type bag to sit on. If anyone has one they don't need or any ideas on another way of fabbing something to the side bag mount please let me know. Thanks in advance Mike In MN |

Seen multiple people mount a plate of various types to the beaver tail when laid all the way back. Would not recommend it for anything heavier then say 10-12 lbs though, but there is some real tidy options. Know anyone who is good with a Tig welder and some chromoly tubing, would be a piece of cake to make one, as the factory points are really easy to pick up and create the rack. Couple options I know about anyway. I am going to be remaking my rear rack this spring to have a larger platform, but still be used like you are describing as well as the factory bag mount system. Also check out Palmer Products. Their rear rack is what gave me my ideas!! Imitation is the greatest form of flattery right? Bruce (Message edited by rr_eater on January 31, 2012) |

I purchased the rear rack and the cross piece that it attaches to in November. Purchased new from HD. So the parts are available. I'm going to get the trunk directly from H-B. They don't seem to be available from Harley-Davidson. The rack itself doesn't have a tall sissy bar for a t-bag. But if you had the "beaver tail" in the vertical position you could slip the t-bag over that and have it rest on the rack. You probably already know that. Barry |

Make sure you have the side case racks if you're running the top case rack. Adding a small (light) bag to the triple-tail won't cause an issue, but adding an OEM top box without the side case racks will snap your sub-frame in half. The side case racks provide the necessary bracing for the extra load. |
