Went to pull my wheel just now so I could get my new PR3 mounted, ans came to find that I am missing my pinch bolt. I am certain it was there just a few hundred miles ago, so no idea what happened to it... Anyway, does anyone know what size/grade bolt this is, so I can seek out a replacement? I noted in my service manual that it is a 10mm hex head, but that's all the info that I have. |

M8 x 68 Hex Looked in the parts book and that looks like the only one it would be. CA0041.1AM |

Looking at my 08 parts book. Part no. 2 pp76-77. I have(at some time ??) added a scribble by the inset that says "pinch 12x50". A12050.2CCVB isn't listed in back with other fasteners. CA0041.1AM shows up on the Cranckcase page22-23 as the pinch bolt for the swingarm pivot. Looks like the numbers and descriptions got switched... I just went out and checked Loretta's. 10mm allen M12-0.6x50 Don't forget the blue loctite. Z |

Ponti1, PM me your mailing address and I'll send you one. I experienced the same situation and have 4 spare bolts. It's 5/8-13 if I remember correctly |

Wow GenTso that's weird. Now I'm not sure of the size, I ASSUMED it would be metric. BRB |

M12-.6x50 Bolt measures .466" 3/8 allen is sloppy, 10mm is proper fit. Checked with my only pitch-gage, not 13, 14 or 16 per inch. 6 peaks in 10mm = .6/mm Zack |

Although I suppose it could be M12-.6. I don't have a metric thread gauge handy. |

I must be thinking backwards on the pitch number. Looks like a metric coarse is 12-1.75... Z |

Thanks guys for all the input! M12x1.75x50 it is! General_tso, Looks like I can get a 10 pack shipped to me for $10, so I'll save you the trouble. I am the type to like a surplus around the garage anyway. |

Blue loctite on install. After install, bright touchup paint at one spot on the bolt head and an adjacent spot on the swingarm. I do this on all my critical fasteners - axles. Caliper mounts. Fork tube pinch bolts. Axle pinch bolts. Clutch cover bolts. Oil filter. Handlebar clamp bolts. Triple tree / stem bolt. Shifter bolts. Soon as I torque it...I paint it. Makes pre-ride checks go super-quick...and COMPLETE. And I have yet to lose a bolt. If the paint don't line up...I re-torque, and re-paint. Although, I need to find a new bright color. The molten orange I've had since I bought my orange 99M2 new...froze. Bummer. White works, but doesn't show through the mud and muck on the Ulysses nearly as well |

When I worked on radios, we used Glyptol - fancy fingernail polish - to cap adjusters. Great idea Joe. Z |

I bought 2 at the local hardware last week for about $1.20 each, one for a customer bike, one for spare. Since they go in from the bottom, out of sight, I expect they are loosened for tire changes, not retightned, and they fall out.... |

Man I wish I could have found one at a local hardware store. Looked at 6-7 different stores and no one had anything even close to the correct size. |

The rear axle pinch bolt is one of the few things about this bike I feel was just bad decision. The bolt could have just as easily been in a recessed location from the top or even rear of the swing arm, and access to it, safety wiring it, etc, would have been much easier. It's a pain in the balls to wire that thing, trying to thread through it, around the rear stand, etc. |
