I Just wanted some info about how people who use Barkbusters compare them in wind protection against the stock ones. Thanks. |

I use the Bark Buster VPS version: Which has an adjustable piece (the black lip in this shot), with that raised, it does have a bit better wind protection than OEM. Still not alot. You could swap the plastic out for the "Storm" guard to get the next level higher wind protection: Beyond those get "hippo hands" or similar:

http://www.barkbusters.net/products/78.html This Barkbuster model, called "S1" mount. It only connects on the inside of the hand controls. Nothing connects to the bar end. The "S1"s work well if you want to run a bar end throttle lock. In a tip over they are probably not as strong as the type that attach on both sides but surely provide more protection than the stockers. Either will keep the wind off. (PS...I don't know why is my picture so big. Sorry.) (Message edited by union_man on December 17, 2011) |

I have the storms with the integrated bar weights and I have to say it's one of the best things I've done to the bike .. especially this time of year when the morning ride is a bit cold.

Riding_tall, What's that fuel neck thing / airbox cover you got going there? How much extra fuel does it give up? |

The storms are nice, a friend has a set on his strom. I just bought a set of the moose aluminum guards and put them behind the stock ones. |

Standard cover with a graphic. I got it from the original owner when I traded my original black plastic for the orange. I really like it and I'm trying to figure out a way to do the same graphic on the back of my riding jacket, in reflective orange. The wind protection of the storms are great. nice little wind free bubble that just protects the hands, unlike the stock "guards" that don't block the wind over the top of the hand or protect from much of anything else. Now it's time to upgrade the headlights. |

The BarkBuster VPS is the way to go. Not as good wind protection but the best HAND protection in the event of a mishap (due to it's solid backbone between the interior and end of the handlebar). After a recent bump and fall with another motorcyclist (thankfully no injuries), the BB, stock hard bags and the axle protector all but eliminated any damage to anything but those items. I have not broken the VPS, but if something tried to, I believe it would break the handlebar first. |

riding_tall, I ordered the Storms, because I liked your picture. They look sturdy, but I'm concerned about breaking the clutch perch or brake perch/master cylinder if a mirror takes a hit (e.i. tip over). I'm hoping to find bar end mirrors that will work with the storms. If you know of something let me know. |

another question for you current bark buster storm owners. Is the proper mounting kit for the storms, BSC-STD?? If so, how do those work for you? Reason i ask, someone from babweb was complaining that those particular mounts come too close to the 12v indash socket and you can't plug things into there. Like there's about an inch of room at the most. Is this what you've found? Or should a different mounting kit be purchased? thanks for the help. |

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/638329.html?1308793147 I you don't mind the bark-busters set a tad lower, you can get anything in and out of the plug. My thing is I use 12v to USB adapter that sit flush in the socket, and there is plenty of room for a USB cord of any type. Everything else plugs in under the seat, or in the auxiliary plug, or in my tail bag socket. You have tons of power port options, dont let that one thing keep you from using BB's, thats just silly. I have the Storms and love them and they have saved my bike a few times when Im riding offroad and the Uly wants to take a nap. The metal backbone took all the punishment and when I got home I just wet sanded the scratches out of the plastics.

estresco, I can't tell from your picture if they interfere with access to the power plug. Do you know if you're using the BSC-STD mounting kit. rr_eater, Thanks for reposting your pictures. I hadn't thought of mounting mirrors to the BB frame. |

With my setup I have no interference with access to the power plug. I run a wolfman tank bag that I have my power cord to charge my cell/iTouch and I have no problems what so ever with anything hitting any of power plug cords. Best setup is to get a power plug that also has a USB port. I have one that that lets me charge my cell and iTouch at the same time. As far as which mounting kit, I cant recall. It is the one that mounts to the end of the bars with an expanding insert that goes into the bar ends. I had bar end weights before I installed the Barkbuster but after their installation I no longer needed the weights as the Barkbusters really eliminated the vibrations. This is great setup that I have. Love it! Cuts the wind to almost nothing on the hands, provides ridged protection to the levers and hands, and looks great! When I was riding my Uly wanted a nap these took the blunt of the force and kept me and my controls safe, all I had to do was wiggle the backbone back to the original position before they got pushed up from the fall.

Thanks for the responses everyone. It also just occurred to me that this may be a good reason to buy the Rox risers I've been thinking about. That way I can just rotate the bars back if its an issue. Now, do I go with 1" or 2" risers....... |

I'm going to move to the 2" before any long rides this summer, but I also want to sit back a little more vertical |

Uly dude, go with the 2" Rox all the way. The range of adjustment is awesome. Rox rock..... |

The 2" risers are in my pictures in the link above, I love them, they let me fine tune the position as well as rise, well worth the money. Bruce |

Anybody with the Storms. Do you think the aluminum bar can be massaged to work with the Kaoko Throttle Lock? |
