Recently purchased the X1(1999), having a few issues. Main output bearing failed and ground the speedo sensor away. This blew the ign 20A fuse. After repair the bike ran sweet until after an hour, then misses, cuts out etc. starts and idles ok. Seems to run ok when left to cool down. Suspect ignition module or coil.Any suggestions ! |

New plugs. NGK Irridiums work good. Napa has them. Reseat your spark plug wires in the coil. Several on/off cycles to clean the contacts. When you ride it, if it bogs down during throttle changes (speeding up at highway speed) probably is the ETS...engine temp sensor. The ETS wiring could be chaffed and shorting out. |

Could also be a plugged tank vent valve or the hose from it. This can lead to fuel starvation if the fuel pump causes a vacuum in the gas tank. If you get the symptom again after a while riding, try opening the fuel cap which will break the vacuum, if any, and the bike should immediately run normally again. |
