Have been wanting to move the electronic from the right side of bike to under the seat (fuses, relays, ecm). I have seen some on here do this. Question is how durable are these componets to moisture dirt etc. How well do they need to be protected. do they need to have air to keep from over heating ??thank you. I run no body work that is why the move. |

I don't think anything of your M2 electrical system is generating much heat other than the voltage regulator. I would add dielectric grease to all of the fuses, relays, diodes to keep the moisture from "getting at" the contacts. My X1 (all X1s) have the fusebox and ECU under the seat. I was dissapointed to find that while the top of the fuses seem dry, the undersides can get some moisture. |

Maxbuell, Can you keep us posted on this project if you decide to do this? I'm currently running without the tail section while it's in "my body shop". I was just looking at it last night and thinking about the same thing and also wondered if the electrics would have a heat issue if re-located. Maybe you could do a write-up with some pictures? |
