Author Message   Malcolm Posted on Tuesday, January 03, 2012 - 05:10 pm:        Hi I'm finding my way around a 2009 1125R and wonder if I can get some condensed advice on various items which come up in the early days of ownership. Here's the first: I saw some posts on coolant loss and wonder if someone can give me the "101" either in a reply or lead me to a link somewhere. My bike has never lost a drop of coolant. Chances are you got shorted on your initial fill. The coolant tank top-off is supposed to be done by the delivering dealer. My delivering dealer did a half-assed setup. When I first got my 1125 it was running so hot that I was burning my left leg. I checked the coolant level and it was low. Here are the number from my logbook when I followed the top-off procedure: Total fluid added to radiator: 100 + 80 + 55 = 235cc. Total fluid added to reservoir: 190cc. Total fluid added t system: 235 + 190 = 425cc. CT dropped from 210-F to 175-F once the cooling system was properly charged.   Nillaice Posted on Tuesday, January 03, 2012 - 10:59 pm:        http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/525759.html?1263466159 monitor your voltage, and pull disconnect the solenoid under the air box (the 2-wire plug is under the seat) and the 'whrirring/whizzing' noise after you park it and the bike is still hot; is the fuel pump keeping the fuel rail pressurized above saturation pressure so the fuel doesn't boil.   Craigsmoney Posted on Wednesday, January 04, 2012 - 10:36 pm:        I think that is your cooling fans. The stay on for about a minute after shut down.   Zac4mac Posted on Thursday, January 05, 2012 - 06:30 am:        @Craigsmoney - the fans run for a short time, seconds only in my experience. Matt is referring to the fuel pump cycling for 10 minutes after shutdown. You can't miss the fans, but the pump is much quieter and runs for a second or two every so often to keep the fuel rail pressure up. If your rail is good and tight, you have a long cycle between running and you might not even notice it. Zack
