I was looking at my stock headers today and I got an idea that a stock header could be made into a Race Header. It seems that if the stock header is cut just before the two pipes are joined and two new 90 degree bends are slipped onto the stubs and joined after the 90 degree bend like the Race Header, the result would be that the tubes would be of the correct length and the whole set-up could then be used with a Race Muffler. Does this seem right? If so, it might be a solution for the shortage of available Race Headers. What do you think? |

Hmmm... sounds too easy. But... sometimes the best solution is. Chop one up and sell me one of your race headers Dave? |

That sounds about right to me, too. I'd like to attach the collectors to the head pipes with springs; I'm thinking that would keep some of the vibration off the collectors and keep them from cracking. rt |

I guess I should feel lucky to have a real one! I am seriously considering taking it off the bike in favor of a stock header with the Supertrapp/Pro-Series muffler (just a tad too rowdy for my tastes these days)... but unlucky for you I'll want to keep it for an X1 I'm thinking of building. Good luck with the project - just keep in mind that the race muffler is a rare bird as well. |

Frank, That is a great looking header. I agree that the springs and slip-together assembly is best. Are these available? |

Hi Ebutch, this is a normal 2,5 inch header, i need it for the German TÜV. So i must ride a street legal muffler on this header. This header is complet a fake , you cann't slip on the tube parts. I made it only in this form for looking in race tech art.
when the bike was finished i will drive a Buell race header and canister. |
