I've had this bike a couple weeks, and put new tires on it today. The rear axle was originally installed going in from the right side of the bike, with the nut on the left. The X1 manual that I had downloaded (I have ordered the proper M2 manual) shows the nut on the right side- the opposite. I'm not sure it really matters, but with a 2000 M2, does anyone know for sure which way the rear axle is supposed to go in from? Thanks! David (Message edited by db4570 on October 23, 2011) |

Really makes no difference but I install mine from the left since they came that way and it matches the front which will only go in from the left. |

Thanks, J. I had re-installed it from the left with the nut on the right. I looked at some pictures here on the forum, and most look like they were that way, but I can't see how it would make a difference. I'll check the M2 manual when it comes, and maybe switch it if it's wrong the next time I have to jack up the rear again for some reason. David (Message edited by db4570 on October 24, 2011) |

I have a 99 X1 and my rear axle is in backwards. Has been that way since i got the bike. A fellow bueller pointed it out the day after i got the bike. Doesnt seem to matter so i just leave it that way kind of like the previous owner lives on kinda thing lol |
