You may have. . . . . just brought in 30 of those large Rubbermaid storage containers and it's all headed into garbage bags and shipping cases. It's been ordered "out of the basement" . . . . I'm off to run . . then back to start packing . . . I estimate about 3 weeks. |

quote:The Harley salesman who sold me my S3 lied
I went to a big H-D dealer looking at a possible Buell for the wife. I had a Buell hat and shirt on. First thing the guy says is, "want a bike to go with that hat?!" It went pretty down hill from there. He was trying to tell me that there was no difference between a '98 and '02 S3 he was trying to sell me; the older one was just a better deal. I explained all that I could remember and he just kinda went mute. On the other hand, the first S1 I was ever able to put my hands on was at a Chicago area dealer that was excellent. These guys knew the bikes, were very enthusiastic, and even offered a free upgrade to PM wheels. Unfortunately I had no credit and not enough cash at the time. |

"i" have to admit there were a few REAL BUELL DEALERS among the BUELL SERVICE CENTERS at the HARLEY-DAVIDSON DEALERS ... Most HARLEY-DAVIDSON Dealers are just CAR Dealers selling motorcycles !!! HARLEY-DAVIDSON SALES persons,HARLEY-DAVIDSON technicians, and HARLEY-DAVIDSON parts persons are what gave BUELLs a bad name !!! "YES" "i" can tell you a lot of STUPID STATEMENTS and BUELLschitte answers said to me ... SOME ARE: That is a SPORTSTER part and it will not fit a BUELL ... That BIG TWIN(FL Model) front isolator will not fit your BUELL ... The FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL says the DRIVE BELT is supposed to be adjusted tight like that ... That Fan KIT will not fit your year BUELL ... Your FRONT ROTOR was bent when you brought it for a new tire ... |

Court, if you have anything on the RS1200 machines specifically or the "Buell Motor Company" era in general I would be interested, any paper work, factory papers, letters, anything you might want to part with would be of interest... regards Gavin 1990 RS1200 Number 59 (Message edited by agusta74 on October 18, 2011) |

Ship it all to Joe and let him distribute it from there. I'll help too. We'd all love to help you out of all that extra "junk". This thread is killing me!!! Back on topic, the heads got most of the work didn't they? The "New Edition" Harley-Davidson Sportster Performance Handbook by Buzz Buzzelli (my copy is from '97) says it's pretty hard to improve the bike cause it's already had so much done to it. His suggestions are intake, carburetion, and exhaust (which you've already got with your factory race kits) them big twin valves and cams, the lighting had a higher that stock hp cam as well... so what are you gonna do? Increase displacement if you want more power. The chapter is only ten pages, including large pictures and a full page history on the history of Buell. Did anyone mention the 99+ model years all got the Thunderstorm heads? 98 saw them on the Lightning S1W and Thunderbolt S3 and S3T. 'kay, that's my less than helpful $.02. |

Little - in 1997, that was probably true. But the Thunderstorm heads were better and then the XB/2004+ XL heads with the bathtub combustion chambers are better still. |

I don't get it, if you are going to just throw away stuff that any of us would be happy and glad to take care of, why tell us about it? |
