Seems to me someone changed size on front tire and either it came close or did rub the lower fairing??? |

That is the Conit TKC 80's, size 130/80/17, and you need to grind down the knobs to clear the fork tubes. |

so thats running a 130/80/17 up front and what, a 150/70/17 rear? thats the biggest rear i see from them. http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/co ntinental/motorcycle/themes/motorcycletires/enduro /tkc_80/tkc_80_en.html but i guess that rear does look pretty small on that rim. |

Yep! And Wolfie tried a 130/80/17 on his STT and it wouldn't clear the muffler, so that may be an issue depending on what bike and exhaust you are using. Makes sense, I've had the stock 120/17 hit the chin spoiler before while riding on my XB. |

I had a 120/90 on my uly last fall and it fit, was very close to the chin spoiler and I had to move the lower fender up a bit. The 150 rear worked OK as well. Shame they didn't use a 4.5in rear wheel on these bikes.

Noticed that the 120/70 17 Shinko 705 is a tubed type tire? Just add a tube to get it to work OK??? thanks (Message edited by buford on October 10, 2011) |

The Shinko is 120/90/17, and if you're profile serves you right, you're putting this on an Lightning? I'd be very worried you will contact the chin/exhaust. Especially when doing the king of rough roads that would necessitate this tire. Especially with little fork travel. |

Yeah, 120/90 it is...based on the pic, it's going to be tight on the 12S. May have to at least remove the chin... |

I'd be shocked if a 120/90 fit on a lightning. Since you're experimenting as is... why not go with a 4.6x17"? That's 116mm wide, so really not much different from stock. Unbolt the factory valve stem, throw a tube in there, and give it a try! Tons of options with that size too... http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/29/393/1504 8/ITEM/Shinko-700-Series-Dual-Sport-Rear-Tire.aspx |
