I just moved to Northern Virginia from CA and while I was in transit for the last three months my bike sat in a moving storage warehouse. I expected the battery to be dead but it is completely drained and did not take a charge off of the tender. I replaced the battery today with an 8 cell EVO2 from Ballistic performance. Cranked right up, but my bike was showing a 108F AT reading at start up. rode around for 15 min and it dropped down to 102F deg and outside air temp is a cloudy 77F. I was hoping for any suggestions from the experts here and if anyone can recommend a Buell friendly dealer in the DC metro area. Thanks

The air temperature sensor is located right between the two radiators, and once the fans kick on they blow hot air onto it. This will result in the sensor reading high. It does not affect the performance of the bike, so you can safely ignore that. The only time the sensor is accurate is before startup if the bike has been off for several hours (no residual heat). Let it sit overnight, check the temperature tomorrow before starting the motor, if it is still reading 100+°, your sensor may be defective.

Check out Fredrik HD/Buell, they are probably your closest Buell friendly dealer.

Welcome to the area! If you look on Storm Fronts here, you will see a thread I started that has a list of Buell competent servicing dealers and independent shops in the Wash. DC and Balt. areas. Join us for a ride, usually on Sundays. Sunoco gas station at the entrance to Bowie Baysox stadium (MD) at 1000hrs.

Hey, I'm in the Northern VA area and I usually take my 08 1125r down to East Coast Harley. I have mixed emotions about them but they do have a knowledgeable buell tech there.

Treat the IAT with a grain of salt for the reasons stated by Frog. He'll correct me if I misstate it, but the IAT is pretty low on the logic tree for fueling and ignition, so it should not affect ride-ability. I don't think they are very expensive if you need to replace it....
