Just in the past couple of weeks the Uly is taking longer to start. After a summer of several electrical issues that have all been corrected. Stator, VR, 77 connector, battery have all been replaced. Recent TPS reset and idle adjust, clutch and primary chain adjust new plugs, oil change etc. It used to fire in a second or two, now takes five to six. Only cold, starts fine when warm. Right around 32,000 miles now. Ideas? |

If it runs fine when warm, perhaps it's not turning on the "choke" when cold? I vote temp sensor. It's probably not technically bad yet. Probably marginal or something. |

Could be the fuel pump. Maybe taking longer to build pressure causing the longer crank before fuel gets fully to the injectors. Back in my days of a mechanic I saw vehicles that had hard starts like you describe. Would check fuel pressure on start up and would be zero. After cranking for a few seconds the pressure would slowly build and then vehicle would start. The pressure should be high as soon as you turn the key and the pump is primmed. If the pump is not up to par, that could be the case. Just my thought from what you explain. |

I would have to agree with Jhallgren on this one. I had to replace the in-tank electric fuel pumps on my Dodge Ram and Dodge Neon for this same reason. Apparently there is a check valve in the fuel pump that was not holding and would allow the fuel pressure to bleed off when the vehicle sat for anything more than a few minutes. They would crank for several seconds and then fire up and run fine. Replacing the pump cured both of these vehicles. (The check valve is built into the pump and not available separately) Thanks. |

Do you have a battery tender? A weak battery can cause labored starting. |

Battery always tended. I have a few hunches. O2 sensor, partially fouled plug. I never idle for more than a couple of minutes when cold, but maybe the servicer that did the stator work may have let it run for some time. I'm changing plugs again and spark wires Friday. Any other ideas? Thanks. Will be at Slimey Crud on Sun. if any of you want to check it up close. |

The O2 sensor won't be active when it first starts from cold. |
