Set a new personal record today, going 167 miles on a tank. It is a XB9 with race ignition and a Drummer as the only modifications. Took 3.4 gallons on the fillup.

162 miles was my previous record, but it was coughing and sputtering the last few miles.

What are your experiences?

I have gone 127 on a tank and I wasn't going to push my luck much beyond that.

When I went to South Padre Island from Southern Wisconsin last year I was doing about 155 to 160 every tank before fill up.

Always 115-120 miles to the reserve light and had that happen once 20 miles to the next gas. Took a little over 3 gallons. Mileage runs in the low 40s but getting better. Too much lead in my butt and throttle hand and I'm "aerodynamically challenged" to say the least!

I pulled either 170 or 190 (can't remember) out of a tank once...took 3.398 gallons...when I ran it out of gas once it only took 3.4. That was on the NE Tour, after we realized that gas stations just aren't all that common up that way!

I average between 47-52 mpg, regardless of riding type, apparently. Can't argue with that, since the truck might get 17 on the highway!

I've pulled about 150 miles out of a tank on my XB12R, but I don't make it a habit of stretching that tank much. How far do you guys get after the fuel light comes on?

For what it's worth, I once went ~200 miles before switching to reserve on my M2.

I got 66mpg on Monday on a trip to Rocky Mtn. National Park. Involved doing the speed limit and riding in a calm, consistent manner, something of which I do not make a habit of.

Stock 9R with a K&N Filter.

i have a brother in breckenridge (9800ft). the drive (in a truck), from denver to breckenridge...almost a half a tank. the drive back from breck to denver 1/8th a tank. not much hitting the gas on the way back down.

i cant wait to take my bike out there one of these days. it must be great riding out there now.

I usually get 125 - 130 mi. My light doesn't come on, but I tend not to push it past that. I live out in the country and dred the day I have to push it home cuz I ran out of gas.

I found out just how far my 9R will go on a tank of gas. I pushed it about a mile to the nearest gas station...

176.6

Took 3.509 gallons to fill it... where is the other .2 gallons at? Probably on the right side where the pump can't get it... I know...

Man it sucks pushing a bike! And I was late to work too. And get this, two guys I know just drive right on by. "Hey, was that you pushing your bike down hwy 31?" Grrrrrrrrrr! I ain't livin' right or something.....

12 S, 2500 miles on the clock, 123 miles to the light, took 2.8 gal, almost all highway miles. Average combined hwy and town is consistently low 40's. Only one time got 50+ and that was still less than 51, all hwy miles and very consistent 60 mph.

fuel
I carry one of these on road trips. Enough gas for about 15-20 miles. Used it last week near the Trinity River in California to get a Forest Service worker back on the road, he'd run his little Honda beater out of gas. Saved him LONG walk to the gas station, and saved me from riding 2-up to a gas station with a large dreadlocked man carrying a chain saw!

Chainsaw that is the goods. I have a litre version of that bottle at home and have been trying to think of a way I could carry some just in case on longer hauls where I'm not too sure of the distance between gas fill ups.
