For those of you who have broken a belt, does it only happen going from 1st to 2nd? |

And also, from where could one find the the cheapest replacement belt? From all this recent belt bustin' activity, I've been convinced to replace mine and carry the old one as a spare. |

No

American Sport Bike and authorized Buell dealers are the only ones that sell it, price is the same at all of them unless you get some kind of discount.

You haven't done that yet? |

Al over at American Sport Bike has them - you can usually order on Monday and have it in-hand by Friday. (I keep a spare for the track bike in the trailer - fortunately I've not needed it) |

mine broke because I had a replacement. mine did break on the 1 2 shift, but it could be coincidence. As for cheap belts, just get from Al at American Sport Bike, it worth helping out a local vendor. |

They pop when they pop. I had one that came apart totally unexpectedly on the most tame of downshifts. I had another one that I watched slowly get more loose until I told a bunch of guys around me "this will break next session... watch", and sure enough... |

I downshift fairly hard coming off the front straight at my home track (sometimes 6th to 3rd in quick succession), and I even went unintentionally into 1st last time out on a second gear turn (that was fun:: as in pucker up) and so far the belt has held well. I'm running standard clutch (no slipper), so at some point I will feel JD's pain, I'm sure.... |
