Told I was down to 20% during tire change. (Dunlope Q2) Didn't have my new pads with me so now I need to swap them in. Is there anyway to do this without front tire removal? Can't find a store that has the 22mm hex bit needed. Thanks. |

If your brake line is long enough, you can do it without removing your tire. Just remove your caliper and pull the bolts and remove the pads. Its pretty easy. I'm sure someone one on here can explain it to you better than I can. |

I use two 7/8 nuts on a bolt since I lost the tool that came in the pouch. |

Unless you have an aftermarket brake line it's to short to just remove the caliper. You can how ever remove the mc from the bar, remove the screw holding the line on the bottom fork bracket then you can remove the caliper without removing the wheel. Just remove the two screws holding the caliper slide it down to clear the mounting tabs, line up the grooves on the back side of the caliper with the spokes of the wheel and remove it. Tip: loosen the pins that hold the pads before you remove the caliper. Then it's just take out the pins clean everything and reassemble in reverse order. Easy pasy |

Did you lose your tool kit under the seat? There's one in it, just need a socket or wrench to go with it. |

With the hassle of lifting the bike to remove the tire i'm surprised nobody suggested removing the banjo bolt/line FROM the caliper, the two caliper bolts and just rotate the caliper out? That's how i do my XB |

No I don't. I just learned that from doing it. Wish I would have learned that before we did yours and we wouldn't have had to remove your tire lol And I personally don't remove the banjo bolt cuz after a couple of times or less you have to replace the copper washers and you have to bleed the line. Why introduce air to the system if you don't have to. But I have been eye balling the brake line from eebbrr that you can disconnect and not have to worry to much about bleeding after it's reattached. |
