Went to take my 1125R to work this morning, started fine but turn signals (right side) were flashing and wouldn't turn off! I washed it last night so is it likely that i just got water in a conection and it will be fine when it dries out or something worse? Luckily i had the trusty S3 for backup!

I've seen a few posts on here of that happening after washing bikes, yet I went riding around for a few hours in Hurricane Irene this weekend and never had an issue. It is weird.

A lot of times, after washing mine, only one blinker works, no matter which way I push the switch. Once it dries out, it's back to normal. I use that as an excuse not to wash my bike.

had same thing on my 1125 cr. whenever it gets rained on the rt turn signal doesn't like to cancel. figure its water in the switch. my x-1 did the same thing, looks like the same switch. i might take it apart and smear some dialectric grease all over the terminals

If you have an air compressor... as soon as you hit the final rinse, grab the air gun and blast her off. Since I have got into this habit, I have noticed that the bikes looks better (fewer water spots) and the turn signals work!

Easy Joe

I wash my Uly every season.
Bugs are bad now, but Windex lets me see thru the w/s if I want.
I keep the light's lenses clean too.

Tbolt98, I had the same problem - twice now after riding in the rain. After taking the IC off and turn signal switch all apart (everything seemed ok), I measured the voltage at the turn signal inputs to the IC, they are supposed to be 0V and 12+V when turn signal is off/on, but they were measuring 6V - 8V all the time on both! Which ever signal input is higher wins (8V)! A small resistor (10K ohm) to ground bled off the voltage/current and allowed them to work normally while wet. The problem seems to be the wiring harness getting wet and some 12V voltage/current leaking into the turn signal input wires. I let it dry out and the problem went away (both times). I really should dig into the harness as some of my tape has come off the wire harness... has anybody gone further than this?

DannyBuell,

I had it happen to me again on my ride to the Tail of the Dragon this weekend - very irritating! I had to disable the front blinker and my son tied an old sock over the rear blinker (he was laughing the whole trip). The good news was that when the rain stopped, I ran the motor at idle for 10 minutes (with the fans blowing) and the problem went away 5 minutes into the next ride. I'll take a look at the problem again, I suspect that a two phased approach may work 1) waterproof the wiring harness or build a shield for the front fairing and 2) add the resistors to the turn signal inputs.

happened to me recently in the rain too....funny thing tho, it looks like the same switch housing as the Uly...in which I've been in many thunderstorms...without issue ...go figure
