I just bought the bike and the fella said it still had a warranty. I didnt quite believe him when I picked up the bike but turns out he was right. I called the dealership and they said it expires in November 2011. Ive had a xb12s for about 3-4 years and never had a lick of trouble out of it. My question is should I expect the same reliability out of the 08 1125r? Or should I spring for a 2 year extened warranty for $800 I could definatly spend this money elsewhere. Lol |

IMHO - it's not worth the money for an extended warranty on the 08. You either did your research or lucked in on choosing an 08 |

Not worth it in my opinion. $800 will buy you a lot of beer and tires. Being that it has 3000 miles on it, odds are the common issues would of cropped up by now and would of been fixed. Hell you still got till November anyway if you do run into some trouble. |

+1 Jules. Start riding the bike as much as you can. The more miles you put on it under warranty the more you will discover. |

I think a very important consideration in whether or not you extend the warranty is how well you local dealer treats Buell's. Their are some HD Dealers who really work hard to support Buell owners and a whole lot that don't. |

I have an 09 CR and went through 2 regulators (one of which took out the battery)and 2 sets of steering head bearings. I opted for the extended warranty. IMO, ride it till the warranty is going to expire and see how it runs. If you have problems with it, buy the warranty, if not....don't waste the money |

Ghost - I'm in the same boat as you with an 08 and I don't plan to go the extended route as all of the usual issues with 08's have been fixed on mine. I would suggest doing some research on this site for issues with cluster/low fuel light, Rev A clutch weep and rear blinker burn out. In each case there is good info on this site to evaluate if you're bike has the fixes yet - if not, PM me and steer you in the right direction. Brake line and 5th gear recall stuff should be covered after warranty if they haven't been done, so no worries there. |

I am in the same predicament also as I just bought an 09 1125R with less than 4000 miles on her. I am wondering if I should get the warranty. I only spent 5 grand on the bike. If I buy a warranty that makes my overall purchase not such a great bargain. Also If I spend the 1800 they are asking I might as well have bought the bike new. What worries me are the countless issues I read about constantly on this board concerning this bike. Is there anyone riding a trouble free 1125R? Even still with all the problems anything short of engine or transmission failure I can just replace with cash, as my investment in the bike overall was not steep. |

Is there anyone riding a trouble free 1125R? There doubtless are - you won't find them spending much time posting here thought, they'll be too busy riding.. |

Does anyone know if extended warranties are available in Canada? Mine will expire in April, and I know I'll need another stator eventually, as this brand new one is just not holding up... already. Might buy me more time until someone comes up with a real stator fix |

"Is there anyone riding a trouble free 1125R?" my 1125cr, has over 9k...all i have done is the clutch slave replacement...have had honda vfr, x 3, numerous ducatis, and this has been the least troubled bike ive owned! |

My 2008 is so far just about trouble-free. But after all the recalls and known issues were rectified under warranty by the original owner. So far so good after I put 7k miles on it since January of this year. |

08 R not trouble free but pretty close. Early issues were taken care of by Skip Fordyce HD in Riverside Ca. via warranty. The only thing I am dealing with now is a clutch weep (which is not a mechanical issue per say) and a battery drain (which I assume is a faulty IC). I currently have over 13000 miles on my R and I bought her new in October 08. |

My 08 "R" Loretta was born the first week of production. She has 27k+ miles but hasn't been trouble free. She is reliable tho and has never stranded me. I have had warranty replace: fork leg, IC, 2 fuel pumps and an exhaust cam and follower. If you can get an 09 IC under warranty, you gain a gear indicator. Congrats, hope you become as attached to yours as I am to mine. Zack |

I have an 09R with about 5k on it. It's my daily driver but I was away for a year in afghanistan so it still has fairly low miles. Only issues i've had were a failed regulator that was spiking the voltage to 18v or so(didn't hurt anything else and cycling the kill switch usually brought it back to normal)and i replaced it myself with an FH0012A regulator for around $120. The other issue was last week I had to replace the harness relay because all of a sudden instead of 14V it was charging at 11.8v at idle. 5 minutes of troubleshooting and 10 minutes to go to the store, buy the relay, and install it in the parking lot of the autoparts store and I was back on my way. |
