After what happened yesterday I really need a new bike. I don't think I'll be going to the mtns again until I get one. Pete- I called today to talk to you about bikes but you were 'on lunch' and I have been too swamped to call back. But my bike is now grounded to local back roads till it grows up or gets a new owner.

I have just outgrown my bike to the point that it is dangerous for me to ride it in the mountains. I take my corners faster than the bike can handle the lean for and grind my foot pegs too much, I ground my foot pegs on every corner coming up 180 and I was only taking the corners at 40mph. I ground so bad once, I caught my foot. I popped up around a corner and going into the next corner on 180 and there were 2 bikes riding 2 wide in the middle of it. I brought my foot forward to break. when I hit my break I stood up a bit and went into the wrong lane. I then had to lean hard and excellerate around the corner even harder to get back where I was supposed to be and I caught my foot really bad. It got all twisted and caught between my bike and the ground. It twisted my ankle and knee pretty good. I got out of the twisties just fine but I did have to pull over for a bit. |

Not sayin' you're not right. But if you hang off the bike more the bike doesn't lean as much. That's why "chicken strips" aren't really anything to be ashamed about. Until you get your new bike (congrats by the way, you'll be grinnin' ear to ear soon!) try goin' out by yourself and hang your butt off the bike more, and put your knee out (not down) and you'll be amazed at how quick you can get around a corner. Also while you waiting, read up on some good books about sportbike riding. I can't remember the name of the authors right this second (gee wonder why, and thank goodness for spell check) but they will apply to all the bikes you ride. Wish I could afford the little Blast, if I could I'd surely take the little booger off your hands. |

Blacksunshine Had a great time.Your family, wife and sister seem really nice.Glad you liked the buell pin!!!Sorry you missed the ride, see you thursday at the Vortex!!!Torqer-Had a great ride sat.and sun.I hooked up with Joe m.with his R1 and a guy we call crazy Ron riding a 954RR.Gator and Rebecca stayed at TWO while we took the loop,180 to 129 down to Turners corner back up to 60N back to TWO in about 40 minutes or so!!! Smoken!!!!Joey led,I don't like to set the pace going fast. You know how that is.Joey took his girlfriends R6 I followed with Ron riding 2 up.Gave me a pretty good prop when we got back!!!My tires proved that we were sticken and get it !!!The left side has NO chicken strip and the right might have 1/8 or even 1/16 left, thats the hardest I've ever ridden with the Diablos, the best tire ever had for the buck that gets good ware that you can get on the highway and stick the corners.A great weekend Gator and I had a blast!!!By the way he rides that tuber better than I could he was hittin' it pretty good.Ran into MR. pop a wheelie and his son at turners sat.Said he be good next year!!!Pulled a up a 2nd gear as I pulled off.Ran into him again sunday he laughed Gator said sunday's 2nd gear Wheelie was better I don't like to show off it usually bites me in the but-tuks. Their was a few squid eaten punks out front on the side glad I pulled it off,Would have made you proud Mr. wheelie man.Ha!!!! Ha!!!!See you soon. |

Gator-My knee is tweeky but I think my massage therapist can work it out. Good thing he makes house calls so it won't be too much of a hassle. I find that if I turn my knee 'just right' it is very painful so I did something but for the most part I don't notice it. I was thinking I could move my foot pegs a bit and that might help. But then again I still have the lack of power problem. I did get my bike up to 97mph on Saturday on 985 and sustained 85mph up 985 on Sunday. Poor bike. I have found that once I am going about 70 there is NO power at all if there is ANY kind of incline, it will only gain speed from that point if it is going downhill a little or totally flat. This gets a little scarey/annoying when I am trying to keep up in traffic and can't get around the cars when everyone else passes them. Pete- It is my understanding that I have to sell/payoff the Blast before Harley will let me finance another bike, is this true? There is no way I'm going to get what I owe doing a trade-in and it might take me a bit to sell it out right and I'd like a new bike before then. Got any idea's???
