So after a little research with the help of a member. It looks like the most cost effective option is to purchase 5lbs of powder from the company who originally made it. I don't need any more than 1 pound. Cost is 150 per 5 lbs. Does anyone want to go in on some? If 4 more people want a lb each it starts to get affordable! Let me know! Btw the manufacturer stated the original coating is powder with a clear coat. The powder alone cures flat I would assume. |

i was going to guess is was clear coated. The base is probably glossy, but the clear will add depth. |

Powderbypound is cheap as hell. "IF" they stock the color you want. The suggestions they offered up are waaaaaay off. |

I am colorblind so that doesn't help but... is this way too purple? Its a candy so maybe I could spray some blue under it... maybe. http://www.powderbuythepound.com/VIOLET_TRANSPAREN T_-Half_Pound.html |

The little car sample looks good on this one but the actual parts look way off. http://www.powderbuythepound.com/PURPLE_STARLIGHT_ -Half_Pound.html |

Good eye Marc! Those look a lot closer. I am going to call and see if they have chips available to send me. |

Your two selections look closer than what I found. They are closed for they day but hopefully I can get some chips. Much much cheaper if I can find an existing color. Thanks again Marc. I will be shipping some goodies to you Monday sir. |

Ordered a sample of the Dormant Blue. Looked the closest in my opinion. Marc... Forks would be too much... but what about my triple clamps in blue? Too much? |

When I took my X-1 tail section to http://www.classiccoatings.com/index2.html (the place that did the powdercoating for Buell) to get coated Nuc Blue, I was told it was a three stage process, silver, candy blue, and clear. I was also told that after my tail section there was no more Nuc Blue, and that was years ago, but you could give them a call. |

I already spoke with them. 6 mos ago they tried doing some parts and the material they had left was old and contaminated. So they threw it out. They turned me onto Tiger Drylac who will only supply 5lbs at a time. Thanks for the info tho. |

There was a member that was talking about mixing paint. I emailed him to order a pint and never heard back from him. I have that dormant blue coming... I will see how it looks. |
