I have a 09XT with the stock low seat. After many rides I came to the conclusion that this seat would not work for me. 185lbs. Sore thighs, monkey butt etc. Decided $100 for tall seat 5'11" would be cheap experiment. New Tall seat, enlarged hole for ECM connector issue, foil taped the front underside of seat. Texas to Colorado and back. First day 650 miles Dallas to Taos. Could not believe the difference, problem completely solved. I like the taller seat from a sore knee issue as well. If you can stand the extra height the tall seat is superior. In my opinion. |

Good to know. I'm still planning that for my next bike-related-purchase. |

I put the tall on mine also. Really helps with the engine heat as well as the legroom issues. I also put an AlaskaLeather sheepskin on it. |

I run 2 tall seat options on my 07 Uly,one is bog standard, the other I had an upholsterer put a get insert across the top, jacked it up about another 20mm.or 3/4". It Really knocked out the last of the heat issues I was having as well And yes it is not on the bike in this pic, still trying to get pictures out of my so & so iphone.................grrrr |

Plus you will find your stock seat causes you to keep sliding forward into the tank. The stock high seat (from 2006 models) solves that problem as well |

nose2wind, Have you actually confirmed that the tall seat contacts the ECM connectors? I'm curious since I just made the same changes to my 09XT. |

Yes, The seat pan looks exactly the same to me. I bent the rear mounting tab which allows the ECM to angle down, but only so far because the rear connector will touch the battery. I then used a utility razor knife to cut/enlarge the hole that is just above the front connector. Takes about 5 min. You don't have to remove much. I went through 2 ECM before finding a solution on this forum. This problem can leave you stranded if not addressed. Remember mine did not make contact till the seat got real hot. Why take the chance, easy fix. |

I have both the the tall seat (an older one with the stitching) and the stock one on my '09 but I can't see any difference in the underside of the seat pan. I do, however, notice that the tall seat doesn't fit as well against the tank and frame as the stock '09 seat - particularly on the right hand side. |
