My 2008 XB12X goes through it's spark plug cleaning procedure every time I turn the key on. It goes through it's 3-4 second procedure, then I'm good to go. This just started happening. 1- No error codes. 2- Both stock and Erik Buell Racing ECM do it. 3- TPS readings are normal throughout range. 4- No Plutonium within 400'. 5- Throttle is closed. Any ideas??? |

How often are you riding, and for how long? If you frequently stop before the bike is warmed up, it will do this to prevent fouling. |

Bike is ridden 5 days a week, 7 miles each way, stop and go traffic. I noticed it starting to backfire when I turned the key on in the morning. I confirmed by watching it spark with the plugs out. Froggy - about the same time this started, I was questioning the accuracy of my engine head temp sensor. It warms up differently than it used to including running crappy between 30 seconds to 90 seconds when cold. It runs excellent after a couple of minutes. I never let it sit and warm up. The bike thinking it's not warmed up would go along with the plug cleaning procedure activating itself as you wrote. |
