Has anyone here tried to have their paint professionally matched up on your '09 / '10 1125? "I have" Before I die I will get it! I know it is a urethane paint w/ various types (colors) of flake and I can't figure out the how they get the texture, if its via the gun or a certain pressure it is applied. I have the touch-up paint and it is ok for small brackets and things to that nature but for items like the frame/ tank or swing arm, forget it! As soon as you get brake fluid or gas on it it's gone. I would sure like to run into someone that paints the frames for these bikes, I'm pretty sure that the 1190RS has this color or similar shade as well. |

It is done by powder coating, not normal paint, hence why you are having a hard time matching the textured look. |

i was able to closely match the texture by spraying the paint abnormally far from the object (in my case; it was a swingarm) basically i held it about 2-3 feet away, and it was more like i was letting the paint 'rain' down. and it made a friggin' mess. |

Froggy - Do you know this for a fact? If so then I'll try to go that route, The reason I thought it was paint is because it (wet) sanded like just like paint. I've tried to do the same before with powder coat and when sanded you could tell the difference. Oh well, thanks for the input. |

Yes, there hasn't been a single painted Buell since the XB came out. Even the later tubers switched to molded in color plastic bodywork, but I do not know if those frames were painted or powdered. |

Its powder and it can be sanded, its a specialty color. I think I may have found a company that actually has the color but not with the small texture/wrinkle. I still need a good picture of said color to be sure...hint hint |

Fine - I had some scrapage and wanted to paint some race plastics to match the midnight blue - not sure if this is the case for all vendors, but the dupont supplier has NO buell paint match info. They have H-D colors, but no buell (at all). Thought that was weird at the time, so I ended up getting a 'standard' color that was pretty close. I think with some tweaking, a good color tech could get you really close...(I have the Centari color if you need it...) |

Thank you Stirz007 - I think I'm close to getting a powder nailed down. |
