I have done enough reading to tell me that it is the Main Shaft Seal? It this a major ordeal to do on a saturday afternoon? What other work should I do while I am in there? I have read that some folks are doing a Chain Tensioner and Shifter Pawl, but I those were older bikes (mine is a 2000). Thanks in advance! |

I can't say on the timing, because every time I go at something for a Saturday afternoon, the time frame expands a lot. It's me, not the bikes. Someone once told me the best way to estimate is to triple the number, then go up one time increment: 4 hours becomes 12 days; 3 days becomes 9 months, etc. LOL Back to your motor, put a dab of RTV silicone up where the stator wire passes through the case; bend the little metal tab that holds the stator wire away a little bit so it won't chafe the wire. |

Buy two seals, there is a good chance you will bung up the first one and for another 7 bucks you won't have to stop and wait for a replacement. And if you do get the first one in correctly, then you will have a spare on the shelf. If it is your first time, allow a whole day. And also, the new metal primary gasket, be sure to use it. |
