wonder if i can do 2 tires and a clutch cable on top of 60 hours at work this coming week, getting my shelby running, meeting with my lawyers a bunch of times...and have enough energy to ride right from work friday night (again, just like last year) to get there?
Vern, I'll look to hear from you Monday, then, on how the Jeep project went. I can leave at o-dark-hundred on Fri AM as well. I assume you are doing to to take 16 or similar good road, instead of the slab?
Poppin' - thanks for the offer, but I am mostly wanting to link up for the main part of the journey, just because I have been off the bike for a while. Hope to see you there.
My left side bag-to-bike latch will not lock properly after the crash, and the replacement has not show up yet. Looks like I'll be rigging up a "permanent" bag installation set up for the trip!
Gonna go ahead and bravely add my name to roll call (finally), even if I cannot link up with Etennuly. I hate to think negative thoughts about your Jeep, Vern!
Vern, Sounds good. I'll verify I can get there at that time with a 5 ish departure. Not too keen on any earlier, but I think that will work! I'm all about positive energy from here on out! The only thing besides my bag latch that is not fixed from the crash is my left side grip heater, and I am thinking I won't miss it much with the weather we've had! Do you have a route in my mind? I have not made one yet (other than 16 of course), since I was not 100% sold on going before. You can always PM me. It's easier for me to respond on my phone that way anyways.
for those of you taking 16 i have a warning for you... there's a little town down south near beckly called "gauley bridge". me and some friends, bout ten of us,found out the hard way it's one of the biggest speed traps in west virginia.go ahead, google it. we weren't speeding and were even behind a mini van through town when a a-hole cop pulled us all over. said we were speeding etc. also said he'd love to write us all a ticket but the law only let him get the front three of us. what can you do? apparently from checking out the net there are blogs about these loser cops from other towns nearby that get rejected and end up writing tickets all day for their little town. AVOID THAT TOWN!!!
Gauley bridge, Ceder Grove, Smithers and all the rest of those little towns. They will get you for 1 mile over PERIOD.
However right above them is Gauley mtn and Hawks Nest state park. the ride up or down the mtn to the park is awsomeness, not as long as Deals gap but every bit as good and maybe better.
Anyone that has been to the WVBR before knows my Father is a church going man. Well... this past Sunday while at church.. without saying a word to Judy (my step/mother/his wife/do anything for you salt of the earth)... My father stands up and invites the congregation to come on up to the house to have dinner with us and look at the bikes.... I bet Judy about fell of the pew! I wish I could have been there to see her face!... any who... I just hope lightning doesn't strike me.....
Yeesh, those speed traps sound awful! Anybody have info on Highway 50 coming from MD/VA? I'll only be on 16 between 50 and the campsite, but I'd hate to get nabbed for 1mph over on a US highway!
Hey Mark this is Todd & Angie from Fairmont, what time do you think you will be at your mom & dads Friday evening. We made the rally year b/4 last had a great time, didn't get to make it last year due to cancer found in my leg made reservations for this year and don't think we can stay the weekend because I would not be able to do the ride with everybody (cancer may have returned). But we would like to ride down Friday evening to see every1 for the last Buell Rally, including your mom & dad because they are the greatest. Thank You
