So I installed a new projector street fighter headlight on my 9r. Called the Hess fire, it's a double stacked headlight with a projector low beam and a normal halogen high. So I turned the bike on and everything turns on and works fine. But after I ride the bike for 3-5 minutes the low beam (hid) shuts off. Everything else still works but the low beam. Now I can immediately shut the bike off and then turn it back on and the hid will come back on for five minutes. No loose wires, I'm thinking it's sending a signal to the bike and the bike is shut it off? It's a 35w 12v 6000k hid h4 made for motorcycles. So I don't know what the problem is? Thanks in advanced! |

It's probably the ballast. You will need to verify that voltage is still going into the ballast after the light shuts off. What brand is that front rotor? |

You know I was just thinking that maybe its the ballast. B/c it was making some funny noises when I turned it on to take the pictures. I have a second one, i will try switching them out. The front and rear rotors I had professionally cut by a machinist in Savannah, GA the company is called Quality Machine (912-232-5680) they also cut the rotors on my R1. They do a great job and its ten times cheaper than wave rotors. There is no braking advantage however. They are more for looks than anything. |

My low beam ballast squeals for a few seconds until it warms up. Sometimes the low beam does not come on and I have to turn the key off then back on, but it's been consistent so I am not too worried about it going out. I do like the way that rotor looks. How thick is the metal? I have the Galfer wave rotor on the front and need to find something to match it for the back. A new machine shop just opened up close by my house and I just might have to go see if they are willing to do some work like that. |
