One of the other threads mentioned changing the tail lights such that both turn signal lights would come on with the brake light to increase visibility. Is this legal? Illinois or otherwise... Is it a simple change in wiring or does it require extra relays to allow blinking when both brake and a turn signal is applied?

Its a simple deal but some states can be picky since your turnsignals are amber and not red. I think it would be a cops judgement of whether he said anything or not. Would almost be better to rig up a LED rig with red and amber LEDS...red for the brake and the amber for turn only. |

Iowa code states you can only have amber and red in the rear of a vehicle. It does not say only amber can light be flashing. I believe IL. is the same way. I have added a second light to my taillight for brighter vis. It works great. Then you can get a tail light converter, and have the one side of the tail flash with your turn signal. I replaced my turn signals with mini's. When I turn, the way I am turning, that side of the taillight flashes insync with the turn signal. I can check on the IL. code for you and get back later. My friend is a trooper. He'll definately know the answer |

Seems like a good idea. Technically i think lights that come on when Braking have to be red. So it red and amber , big deal. I can`t imagine anyone giving you a hard time about it. |

HD has a plug-in kit for big twins to make your turn signals light like brake lights when brakes are applied (duh) The aftermarket should have plenty of kits to do the same |

Along with the flashing backoff unit it certainly gets the cagers attention. Going to change over the rear turn signals on the R1 with 3 wire units & wire them into the brake light also.

Dyna, you using the factory light adapter kit, or an aftermarket one on your Dyna? I might do the same to my FXD |
