What time are folks planning on departing Woodland on Friday? I ask because I will probably pick up the route somewhere along the way, either by my home in Vancouver or maybe Estacada-ish. |

Loni Shawn is indeed coming. He's riding the Buell this year. Cheers FJ |

Ditto with Greeneric, I plan to meet up with the group at Estacada too. Just need a landmark and an approximate time. |

Hmmm... seems like there still may be some confusion about the dates (this is what I think they are) ... Meet in Woodland Friday night Ride south to Estacada - Detroit - Bend on Saturday Ride Mckenzie Pass - Auferheide - Cascade Lakes Hwy loop on Sunday Ride East Prineville - Post - Paulina, John Day ... on Monday. Please confirm or let me know otherwise. |

Results of SPLASH Sunday Preride: Mckenzie Pass - Aufderheide - Cascade Lakes Hwy loop Left Bend @ 8:15, Lunch in Oakridge - home @ 2:45PM = 6.5 hours (2 bikes) 253 miles No traffic on McKenzie Pass in AM - road is nice & smooth and not much gravel (less than usual). Only ground level snow at side of road for a couple of miles. Don't know when that picture was taken of snow covering the road but not for a few weeks I think. It looks to me like ODOT was taking it's time installing new guard rail posts along the cliffs (no rails yet) before they opened the road). Aufderheide road was wet (hopefully better next week but you just can't tell this "summer"). There is moss growing in the road in places. I will send detailed directions with mileage in a couple days. |

MG, Meeting in Woodland Friday night. You have it right. Ride to Bend on Sat. Eric, we leave Woodland on Sat morning. Sorry if there is confusion. We dropped Friday awhile back as not very many could get the Friday - Monday off. |

Great! Now, more thoughts about the trip... The ride is kind of short ~4 hrs on Saturday so I am thinking that lunch in Sisters might be the thing to do, then anyone who wants a longer ride could ride up McKenzie Pass to the lookout or all the way over and back. Others who might want to checkout Bend could ride into town in about 20 minutes and do that or relax by the pool at the motel. We are thinking about moving our open house BBQ to Sat 5-7PM. That way it would be at dinner time and Eli would be up from his nap to meet & greet. We will have salmon on the BBQ. We will be heading out at 7:30 or so for the "Balloons over Bend Nightglow" where they light up the hot air balloons. Anyone who wants to come along is welcome. On Sunday there is a nice espresso cafe in Oakridge that has offered to set up an outdoor BBQ with various meats to serve sandwiches for lunch. I need to let them know our approximate number in the next couple days if we want to do this. After the preride my guess is that we will arrive in Oakridge after 1PM and there isn't really any place to eat before that so I'm thinking this is a good option. Otherwise, there is a pizza place in town we could invade. What do you think? |

Thank you for the planning and prepping. My plans are a little different than usual this year. With Jerry's blessing (hopefully) at Woodland I will be trailering the Sporty down on Thursday night, dropping it off in the parking lot at Woodland, and continuing as far south as light and energy allow. I will continue south Friday to Medford(south end of Oregon), pick up my new bike, and return to Woodland for Friday night. I'll ride the Harley on the weekend, leaving the car, trailer, and 2002 DUCATI ST4 in the parking lot (again with Jerry's blessing), and pick it all up and trailer both bikes north together on Monday. I have a room booked for myself already and won't know until later in the week if I have a spare bed. Jaci may still come, if the two new grandkids don't need her care. (One to each of her daughters, boy and girl, Friday and Sunday, 8pds 11ozs and I don't know.) |

Please chime in on whether you are up for an organized lunch in Oakridge (see earlier post). I need to let the cafe know soon. Also, be prepared for mosquitos at stops. They are bad this year. |

Mike, food deal sounds great. Not worried one bit about how short the ride is as this gives us more time to hang out. Can you tell it's been a while since I've seen all of ya. Eric call me if you wish to leave your bike at my house in Portland 503 806-4391. Mike |

I regret to inform all of you that I can not make it this year as I have a job I must take this weekend. Money is tight and I just can not justify missing work opportunities. Thank you all for the invite and I will be looking for any new upcoming rides. I am very disappointed as I wanted to meet some Buell riders from the N.W. Have a GREAT ride!!!!! |

No luck getting the S3 going. With all the Express mail charges to get stuff here in time for SPLASH, I could have ordered a new carb. I have now had the carb off 11 times in the last week. Will cancel Bend reservations soon if final try doesn't work. Going back to the 48 slow jet that was on the carb before I started messing with it. |

MG, I'm in for lunch Sunday too. I probably will not be at the picnic tonight. I'll check back to see if there's a departure time for tomorrow, but will probably pick up with everyone at the Eagle Creek Food Mart at Hwy 224 & Hwy 211 (it sounded like the route was just down I205 to Hwy 224/Clackamas then east). I will be on the Street TripleR for the weekend. I will also be leaving straight away Monday as I need to be at the coast that evening to get up and go fishing the next morning. (Then drive back home that night and get up the next morning to ride to Alturas CA and on to the Sierras). Whew! |

SPLASH in Bend Oregon was fantastic! We chartered the SPLASH Bunny Bus and headed over to Mike & Linda’s for an amazing BBQ salmon dinner on Saturday evening. We then continued our tour on the bus to local events in the Old Mill district of Bend before finding our way to the motel for some social libations. Riding in Oregon is unreal! There are “Black Diamond” roads all over the place if that’s your fancy and tons of great stuff for everyone. Sorry we missed you Spudman. How where the Brides Maids? Cheers |
