My "07 xb12scg Lightning cut out on me while riding. No weird noises or anything, it just died. Now the engine light will not come on , but the oil light IS on. Just changed oil 100ish miles ago. The engine cranks just fine, but will not fire. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

No check engine light means the ECM is not working, that usually means there is a power issue like a chaffed wire or bad ground.

My '99 S3 lost its check engine light once when the main power lead from the alternator to the voltage regulator came loose. It's near the starter, 10 gauge wire, with bullet connectors, probably red.

That's not the problem if your bike cranks over. Check the Cam Position Sensor. Take the timing cover plate off by drilling the rivets out and sniff for an electrical burning smell. Get a timing cover plate for a Sportster at the dealer that will mount with screws; do not replace the rivets with ordinary ones unless you enjoy foreign object damage. If the CPS and the wires are good your module is the next suspect.

Taa DAA!! Froggy wins. I finally Removed my head from my butt and did the simplest thing possible: checked the fuses. The 10A. ECM fuse was blown. Replaced it and was off to the races again. 200+ miles later and the new fuse is holding just fine. At some point in the near future I'll have an extensive look for chaffed wires. Thanks to all who commented.
