Anyone have any problems with their mufflers getting crappy looking or a rusty look? Any suggestions o cleaning it? I bought the bike like this and can't really get it clean. Maybe powder coating? |

I have the Buell RustRace kit as well. I'm just gonna live with it until I can get an aftermarket one. You can take it and have it ceramic coated if you want. The guys I talked to said powder coating such a hot part would look like crap too soon. Or you can take it off and clean it up and paint it with exhaust paint, the cheap way to go. |

I have a powdercoating system @ home and in order to apply the powder, one must heat the part to about 425 degrees. As such, since I believe the exhaust may indeed get hotter than that, you may experience the powdercoat basically melting off. I would not suggest powder coating it, but rather ceramic coating it instead, least you desire to have a nasty blotchy looking muffler. YMMV, CHris

I have a stainless steel muffler slip-on ("Sebring Twister" from Adrenalin) no rust problems, but it has slightly discolored from heat at the front of the connector tubes, and behind the exhaust outlet pipes, similar to the stock header pipes. Sounds like a D&D (translation: H.D. fatboy) when you remove the baffles Lazyracer |

My D&D has gotten some oxidation, my friend Race can has also. I imagine the Drummer/stock can will get some rust also. I'd just take it off, sand it down and repaint it with the suggested paint. Considering it only has to be done 1x per year, thats not that bad |

My race can was ceramic coated due to this - no problems in 8000 miles since. |

My Drummer gets a bit too. I will probably repaint it this winter. When I did my M2 headers with the polished silver ceramic coating, it got dull after a while, but a flat finish should hold up fine. |
