Well, I shod my 2009 1125R with Metzeler's latest generation sport touring tire. From all of the road tests I'd read, it would have more than enough grip for the way I ride (and I'll freely admit I'm NO Geoff May) and I got tired of replacing tires every 6,000 miles.

Well, I can't confirm yet how long they last, but I can enthusiastically proclaim that they have far more road grip than I'll ever exceed, and the handling is easily on par with the OEM Pirelli Diablo Corsa tires. Even better, I get a far more "comfortable" ride on day-to-day riding on the street.

I just completed a full day at New Jersey Motorsports Park with Jason Pridmore's STAR School this past Monday. Taking the bike to absurd lean angles the tires never squirmed and, in fact, held like they were on rails. Metzeler puts their elephant logo on the very edges of the tread, so you can go "Elephant Hunting" in the corners. You can still make out the elephants if you look closely... but they were "wounded" even if they weren't killed outright.

More when I have an idea of how many miles they'll last.
