Yesterday I picked up my '09 CR with stator #3 in it. Apparently they had to call HD and send them photos of my stator since they already warranted the stator. According to the both the service writer and tech, stator #2 died in a pretty fabulous way and pretty much "exploded" damaging the rotor and several other inner parts. Let's hope that this stator lasts more than the two weeks the last one lasted. For a bike with just under 4,000 miles on it, it has spent a LOT of time in the shop for the same issue. So far nearly 7 weeks total. | ||

Since the rotor was toast too, I hope you INSISTED on an 08 charging system... | ||

It was replaced with another '09 part, not '08 parts. I did find it odd that they had to get permission from HD to warranty the part since that part had already been replaced under warranty. Seems kind of counterproductive to have a policy in place that only warranties a part once in a 12 month period without permission. FYI, I was told (I think incorrectly) that the '08 stator is obsolete and superseded by the '09 stator. Wayne | ||

Darn. I would have been demanding the 08 parts. Might as well tell the dealer you will "see them soon". ac | ||
