Author Message   Nastcat Posted on Friday, June 10, 2011 - 04:32 am:        I have an 2004 XB12S that has a dented frame. I found a 2006 XB12R frame, I want to know if they are interchangeable. They are the same size tho, only the SS, STT, X and XT models had the longer frame (i don't know about the shock mount).   Froggy Posted on Friday, June 10, 2011 - 09:22 am:        BiB is half correct, the only difference between an 04 and 06 Firebolt/Short Lightning frame is the 06 has the air intake hole blocked off for higher fuel capacity. Might be interested in using it as a spare race frame.   Greg_e Posted on Friday, June 10, 2011 - 02:49 pm:        I still think there is a way to remove the sealer material, cut/weld in a patch, and apply new sealer. Yes I do know it is a cast material, but I also know it is welded in manufacturing so there must be a way to deal with this. There are several tank liner products on the market and most say they work with aluminum tanks. So the only issue I can see if removing the original sealer. It will take someone with a truly trashed frame (like a big hole in it) to do some testing and find a chemical that can dissolve the old sealer. (Message edited by Greg_E on June 10, 2011)
