I have the stock ECM and it is a surging beast. The tach needle is a bouncin biatch between 3800-4200. |

The surging isn't completely gone on mine but it is significantly better than the most recent factory flash. It's a little bit noticeable during the first few miles after the bike is started up in the morning (even when the coolant is at 170F+) but it's just about gone after those first few miles. I'd never call the 1125 motor buttery smooth, but it's pretty tolerable for a big twin. (Mine is an '08 with a Barker and the Barker-tuned ECM.) Also, I was a bit hasty in saying that the gas smell is gone when parking the bike while hot. A day or two ago, I rolled the bike into the garage and it did stink up moderately enough that I opened the garage door to let it air out. It's definitely less offensive than before, though. |

I've now fitted a switch so I can turn my headlights off upon start up, if in very slow moving traffic, and when just moving the bike around it really helps, I did get the battery light come on a few times before this mod, but in general I'm alway above 5k so no probs. |

Avalaugh I did the same thing. Lights off when starting and then I run with my brights on. When close to stopping I shut my lights off. nice piece of mind if you are worried about a charging system failure and you need to run on just battery |

Does a 2009 1125r purchased in CA have a catalyst ? How can you tell ? |

Stock muffler K&N air filter Erik Buell Racing ECM Okay, had I installed this when I first got the bike, I'd be raving about it. However, I've learned to accommodate the stock ECM and feather the throttle to smooth things out, so I actually wasn't unhappy with the stock ECM anymore. That said, I'm impressed with the Erik Buell Racing ECM. The bike is smoother in all conditions, be it 25 mph in town or 6th gear, 60 mph roll-ons. It's nice not having to work the throttle to make it smooth, even though it's now subconscious. Engine braking. Reduced, but still present. Not as abrupt off-idle throttle anymore, really smooths things out. Still enough engine braking I think, but not as harsh as before. Gas mileage appears to be the same Overall, I'd recommend the ECM and I'm happy I bought it. (Message edited by sprintst on June 19, 2011) |
