So disappointing speed channel listed the highlights from MMP in Salt Lake today at 9pm (local). But no there showing NASCAR victory lane. So disappointed.
Having not seen any spoilers, I fired up my DVR recording of the AMA Miller DSB with eager anticipation. Unfortunately the first 1/3 of the recording is nascrap after race BS...
FFWing on I found the start of the race. What a great race it was with a 5 way battle in the wet/drying conditions. Things were really getting interesting around lap 12 of 16. It looked to a great finish in the making when BAMO!!, end of the recording..... Thanks nascrap!!!
PS, And to think I used to be a big nascrap fan...
Having just gotten home about 9:10 last night, I intercepted the recording and, true, found the start of the DSB delayed due to, I guess, another race overrunning its allotted time slot. So I manually intervened the VCR and recorded the rest of the race while pausing out the commercials. If we hadn't been home at that time, I too would have lost seeing the exciting finish.
The AMA Pro Daytona at MMP (Sunday) was freakin awesome! One of the best I've seen. The front 5 were tight with the front 4 swapping position on every lap going into Turn 1. I was lucky enough to be working Turn 2 and saw some ballsy passes going into Turn 1 - amazing stuff!
While Speed may lack something, (they mentioned every brand but Buell in the Superbike race summary, even those that finished behind Geoff on the Buell), who else televises motorcycle road racing on a regular basis?
At the end of the broadcast for Road America superbike race two, Shaheen mentioned that he had talked to Erik about getting his new bike ready for upcoming races.
I had a great conversation with Scott Russell and Geoff on Sunday at RA. Russell genuinely likes the EbR effort and unfortunately like most announcers they get fed a lot of the info they convey. He thought the 1190RS was beautiful but was more concerned when Geoff was going to get it. It was a great conversation that I am still amazed I got to be part of.
There was some frustration on Geoff's part with how long it is taking to get the 1190RR and I don't blame him. He had sampled it and wants more. Hopefully he gets the bike before Mid-Ohio but according to the master Elf that most likely isn't happening.
Seems there is a bigger retardation occurring at the Speed Channel... that being no running order of the actual bike manufacturers.
Have I missed a previous discourse on this subject and is there general agreement that the manufactures bikes are now excluded from the running order?
Usually, sponsor marketers do this to avoid upstarts gaining recognition during the bulk of paid programming. The audience merely defaults to the Japanese manufacturers previous win status.
Well, Speed finally did a pre-race interview of Geoff sitting on the grid before race 2 at Barber, though they didn't have the facts right until Geoff set them straight about the 1190. They also gave him a little air time during the race, gotta love the way the 1125RR sounds at full song....
Yes Neil(Fuzzz), it got a little better yesterday for our Buell coverage but I believe that will change greatly when the 1190RR debuts. The news media and race coverage will be all over us when we start hitting the podium and running up front regularly. Its gonna be great!
Uable to catch race two at Barber or even record it. Since the airing is over, can anyone let me know of Geoff's finnish. I won't be back in touch with the world until late tonight. Got to run. Thanx!!!
SUPERB, Geoff and Erik Buell Racing. Looking forward to the 1190RS too! I would like to tell the folks at Speed TV... not nice to cancel the afternoon showing of the second Superbike race. Pox on the folks there, Instead there was a Corvette collection in Puerto Rico on Car Crazy
They repeated the Suzi-Yamaha Daytona stuff (both races) and no Superbike second race. I'll have to youtube it or something. Thank you Jc33.
