So, I decide go in an adjust / fine-tune my suspension. Now I have a noticeable "click" in the front end during a hard braking event.......... WTF ????? Anyone else experience this. BTW mine is a 2010 XB12X Thanks D- |

Check every bolt on the front caliper and rotor mounting for tight before riding. Then look into re-torquing the steering head bearings. |

It may just the the rotor hitting it's mounts. It sometimes gets louder if you clean up everything nicely. |

Mine does that loud click thingy under hard braking as well. I plan on waiting 'til it gets louder before I look into it. Mine's coming from the rotor. |

This probably isn't the problem but since this is the internet, trust me. The brake pads kind of float a little bit in the plane of the rotor. On both sides, you'll find that the pads are in tension by a weird little sheet metal spring thingy. The first time I replaced my pads, they weren't quite in place the right way and I got a click everytime I braked. |

Any significant impacts to the front tire recently? My other bike nailed a curb almost dead-on one night (long story), which impacted the bearing inside the triple tree. I hear it "click" and "reseat" whenever I hit the brakes hard. It needs to be replaced, I know. |

DF3112, I also experienced this with a 2010 XBX. I tightened the steering head bearings and it went away. There is a procedure in the service manual for this adjustment but I didn't have the tool for measuring the force required to turn the wheel so I just tightened it about 1/4 turn and checked the results. It also stabilized the handling a bit. Happy Trails. |

I had the same issue. It was the headset bearings. |

Since the headset does not use tapered bearings exactly what tightens against what? Is it just adding a slight side force on to bearings that aren't designed for side force? |
