so I was doing a speedometer check the other morning after merging, i wont mention the speed, but as i glanced at it, it halved then dropped to zero. i suspect vss went bad, but i couldn't find a procedure in the shop manual for checking the sensor itself. should i safely assume its vss and take it in for warranty or check anything else? also, i lost my brake light. taillight still works, but front/rear brake levers don't actuate the light. i checked the wiring and didn't see anything disconnected, then i checked the front switch for continuity. i didn't suspect the front switch since it was non op front AND back, but it was accessible, so I did it. all good. has this happened to anyone else? Maybe I overlooked something. cheers |

Stupid question: Did you check the fuses? I've noticed I blow a fuse from time-to-time on these bikes for no apparent reason. We are talking one or two a year here, nothing frequent. |

vss and brake lights share the same fuse mine did the exact same thing mines a cr. if yours is a cr check the harness at the steering head, i noticed mine would blow when turning the forks to the right, it rubs the harness against the edge of the frame, wiring repair and a strip of tape with cloth will fix it. |

On my CR the brake light fuse is also the horn fuse. If its the same on the R then just try the horn. Saves the hassle of checking the fuse. |

If you put your IC into diag mode, you can toggle to the VSS and it will read either 0 or 1. If you spin the rear tire while on a rear stand, the numbers should change back and forth. I'm not a Buell mechanic, but I stayed at a Holiday inn express last night. |

Well there's your problem. When you take off the plastics, the gremlins hang on to the inside of the piece. You never even notice them till you put it all back together.... R |

You guys are right, I double checked the fuses, sure enough 1 blown. Double checked connections an the horn connector was off again, verified front brake connectors were on an refused, all is well......except for oil leak, maybe I didn't put the rebreather hose on all the way? Oh well, ill figure it out. Thanks again. Mo |
