Gents, I just got off the phone with Aaron from Racing 905. This company built a stunt cage for my last bike('06 YZF600R). I've been thinking about a cage for the 1125R. Aaron stated that if I could find someone in the San Diego area to bring their bike to Racing 905's shop, they will fab a cage. He also stated that whomever brought the bike in would receive half off a cage if they wanted one. Would like to hear some fellow Buelligan's thoughts on the subject. FYI, I don't stunt my R, but the cage on my YZF would have saved a bunch of $$$ if I had gone down. Just looking for the same for the R. |

if i were in the so-cal area, i'd be all over that until someone goes there, our options are CF/kevlar pucks and pelecrash sliders. last year i tried hassling DHM (now American Sport Bike) PSR, and woodcraft. DHM was the only one to bite, but the hook didn't set. |

Hm. Can they build a crash cage for a Ulysses? Y'know...for those of us who actually USE them in the dirt? I know. Waaay off-topic. Sorry |

I live in El Cajon CA I'm down to send my bike his way. I'm on a long deployment and the bike is just sitting. My wonderful wife would make it get there. What is Aaron's contact info? |

Yes, but so far I've been unable to verify fitment of a powers cage on a long wheelbase XB. |

is the frame of a longer wheelbase'd XB actually longer when measured from the front engine isolator mount to the welds at the rear/bottom of the frame/fuel tank? i'd think it'd be the same, even with the lager fuel capacity. i always thought the extra ounces came from differently shaped scalloping at the pucks, and filling in the hole in the left side of the frame. not from actaully stretching the overall legnth, and moving engine/tranny mounts. i'd hate for someone to read this thread and get mis-information/the wrong impression |

I live in San Diego, and would love to volunteer for it. I've got a couple of extra bikes and wouldn't mind departing with my beloved 1125r to get this done. PM with the info and I'll drop the bike off tomorrow. |

I just spoke with Aaron. I'll be dropping my bike off on Monday for them to start the mockup. He says that it'll take maybe one to two days to get the jig setup and then a day to get everything done. Then they'll send it off to powder coat and call me back. So I figure in about a week they'll have a finished product available for purchase. I'll probably get the rig on my bike either way. It'll only cost me $150. If I don't like it I'll let one of you guys have it at my cost. |

Any idea how the finished product will look? Where it will attach? How much it will effect clearances etc? Sounds interesting. Then I could just drop my bike when I hear Mom calling me for supper like I used to when I was a kid. |

Just a heads-up as many of these cages I have seen go around the sides and bottom of the bike, yes they offer protection, but they also lower the amount of cornering clearance. Not knowing if it's to the point of being an issue (as they are not made yet), but I do recall hearing of people touching these. That would be scary and could be realllly bad. Nothing against 905 or the cage, just wanted to be sure this wasn't getting overlooked. Also with the thread title of "Race Cage"....these really aren't a good choice for racing. |

good call. lets keep this going, with more valueable input, and pertinent thoughts/requests to the design of this product. the more input we have for the 905 company, might yeild a more desireable/better/product for the lot of us. |

Actually, I didn't. He never called me back to arrange a time for me to drop of the bike. I spoke with him, and he said he'd call me back with a date a time to drop the bike off. Never heard back. I've got three bikes, so departing with the 1125r, is not a big deal. I'm only about 15 minutes from his shop. |

well - I tried ...best way to communicate with Aaron was via Email (and copy the secretary - Stephanie) a) I explained that Buell has "rev'd" the design on the clutch cover and 905 racing really needs a 1125 with a Rev B clutch cover or a 2009 version of the bike - which I don't have b) I have a time constraint on my availability - I believe he needs more time than I'm willing to lend him my bike (the weather is turning even nicer down here - I want to go riding!) c) After sharing theses facts - Aaron would be better off with Mr. Dogs bikes as - Mr. Dog sez he's close to the 905 shop. d) I have tried to get hold of Mr. Dog - but he not replying to my PMs - and I would have a tough time replying too as the communication skills from 905 is not very "professional". ...Sorry for the "false alarm" but I believe that both Mr. Dog and I tried our best - please realize we own bikes that no one builds any more ...and 905 is in business of selling very specialized equipment maybe to 1% of the sport bike riding population ...in our case they would be lucky to sell 50 units???...the investment in time and material doesn't provide a very positive forecast when you look at the return on that investment based on such low numbers....sorry, wish it would have turned out better. |
