I had a new ECM installed and it did not seem to have the reflash. I was told that it came with the reflash standard. Not sure about this. How can you tell by the fan action if you have the reflash? |

The DDFI3 ECMs ship from Harley with no data on them, they are blank. They need to be flashed as part of the installation procedure, otherwise your bike wouldn't work. This is to reduce inventory costs, as the DDFI3 XB9, XB12, and 1125 all use the same ECM just with different fuel maps and other settings for all 3 bikes. If they gave you a brand new ECM you have the latest flash. |

The latest flash makes the fan run all the time over 15mph, and rarely below that. It also doesn't kick the fan on at shutdown anymore, unless the engine temp reaches a certain (much higher than before) temp threshold. |

"the DDFI3 XB9, XB12, and 1125 all use the same ECM just with different fuel maps and other settings for all 3 bikes." Thanks for sharing that helpful tidbit, Froggy. That explains why the dealer had an ECM on hand for a replacement for our X's recent warranty work. Initially we were quoted an 8 - 10 biz days lead time if ours needed replacing. Good news for those of us who may want to keep a spare on hand as well. |
